Does anyone who has or had GD remember having symptoms before diagnosis? I have read on the net that there generally are no real symptoms but does list a few things which are indicators. Im 21 weeks and I seem to have all of them right now! They are:
Extreme tiredness
Frequent urination
Extreme thirst
High blood pressure (pre preg and has become worse since 14 weeks)

I also have PCOS which puts me in a high risk group, although I don't have insulin resistance.

Hi KellyMac,
I was insulin dependent whilst pregnant with my daughter. All of those symptoms you have describe are exactly that of GD. Also, everytime I woke up from a nap it used to feel like I had an extreme hangover. With your history of PCOS which I have as well, I'd ask my ob to organise the glucose challenge test for you sooner than having to wait until 24 or so weeks..
I hope you're ok and don't have GD.. It's not the nicest thing in the world to have whilst pregnant lol :-)

Yes I felt incredibly tired every afternoon, gorged on sugar for energy and just felt more tired. Very irritible, moody etc and just no motivation whatsoever.

I also had terrible morning sickness from 3.5 weeks until about 20 weeks. My hormone levels were sky high at 4 weeks with my HcG reading being over 12,000 no idea if that has any link at all to GD but it is all hormonal.

I had GD with DD, but not sure if I have it this time (had the 2 hour glucose test today). I didn't have any symptoms at all with DD and don't now. I'm not in any of the risk factor groups either (not overweight, only weigh 54kg, no family history, eat well and exercise).

I had zero symptoms and have had GDM with both my pregnancies. However a couple of the symptoms you mentioned above are huge pregnancy symptoms. Extreme tiredness, Frequent urination. Unfortunately the only way to confirm is with the test that I hate oh so much!!

I have my GTT this week and am really worried I have GD. On top of being really tired all the time and having pre existing high blood pressure and PCOS I now have oral thrush which I read is also a sign. GP says its my BP meds giving me a dry mouth which is in turn causing thrush. I know the only way to tell for sure is the test but I just needed to vent :(

I started another thread but I might ask here as well (also 21 weeks) is a symptom feeling REALLY sick and hot and heart racing if you eat anything sweet?

Hi
i was diagnosed with GD with DD at the 28 week test. I was convinced I had it from about the 22 week mark.
I was tired but not extremely, I was thirsty but not extremely, I did feel light headed and quite nauseous if I left it too long between meals, snacks and I had a strange warm fuzzy sensation after eating something high in sugar. If definitely felt like a sugar rush that my body wasn't liking. However I CRAVED all things sugary, banana smoothies, bananas, chocolate, brownies. even now 2 years later with no signs of diabetes my sweet tooth has remained much higher than that of pre-pregnancy cravings. And I had restless leg syndrome from about 20 weeks.
