View Full Version : YAY! Toilet training has begun!
Hi there
I got the "green light" of sorts from DD then other day when she said to me "poo" and then not long after, did one. She is also very interested when I go to the toilet (I leave the door open in hopes that she knows what I am doing and will want to try too).
Anyway, today I went out and bought DD a potty which she took an instant interest in. I kept pointing at the bowl and saying "poo", hoping that she understood that that is where it was to go. Tonight after her bath, I dressed her and everything. She went into the laundry (where her potty is) and she kept coming back out, wanting me to follow her in.
I followed her in and she pointed at her potty and said "poo".
I took her nappy off and she sat on the potty and would occassionally get up to check if there was poo. After a few minutes I thought it was all over. It was just a coincedence. So as I was getting her nappy and clothes, she decided to do a poo on the laundry floor. I caught her mid-poo, so I pointed at the potty and kept saying "poo". She seemed a little scared of what had come out of her and looked at it in horror. I pointed at it and said "poo".
I know she didn't do it in the potty, but it was close and I think I am well on my way to training her! HOORAY! I am so proud of my little poo-girl! I just had to share as I have no one else around to tell....

Awesome that is definate progress because she obviously fully understands the concept, just needs to poo in the right spot!!
Xav is 18months and I offer him the potty every night after his shower ( he is a shower kid lol) and he sits on it for a few seconds. I say to him pee pee on the potty and he points to his penis and says pee pee, but thats as far as it goes, because he gets distractd and has to go and play with his trucks.
He did fart on the potty once lol:laughing: Does that count!??!

Haha!! That's close I suppose!
polony that's excellent! What a clever girl she is :yelclap:
Sounds like you are well on your way.
We also just got DD a potty this week, and she was very interested and seems happy to sit on it. The 1st night she stood up off it and did a wee on the floor but hubby was already in the shower and missed it, so didn't get to explain where the pee should go! LOL I was on the loo (tmi) and missed it all! Oh well next time  But she has been so sick from the day after we got it, (gastro poor bubba and hubby) we've let it go for now as she is pooping like thunder and so not interested - can't say I blame her either.
Keep up the good work, they reckon getting them to do a poo in there is harder than getting them to wee, so you may have a head-start!
Mojogal, your DD is clever too! Yay! :yelclap:
I hope your little one starts feeling better soon!
Aaw thanx :fingerscrossed: Me too!! I need some  But that's a whole other thread.
From what I've heard and read, I thought 15-ish months was a bit young for toilet training, but my lil one seems so responsive and definitely knows when she is doing a poo and wee, and is ALWAYS there when I go to the loo, I thought we'd get her a potty to try. Will see how we progress once she's all better.... :fingerscrossed:

Hello everyone,
A very quick Question our youngest son is 2 in December and really has no interested in being anything but the 'baby'.
Me on the other hand what to try and get him started in toilet trainning this summer, how did you get your child interested?
My other boys basicly did it themselves esp the twins that were completly dry by 2.
Any info would really help.:smiliedance:

I got DD interested by going out and buying her a potty. I made sure it was bright and have put stickers and things on it to make it "hers". I then pointed into the potty and said poo. Then I pointed at her bottom and said poo. She got the idea. I then sat her on the potty so she knows what she is supposed to do. That's how I have started... so far, so good.
Hope you go well! :fingerscrossed:
See, now I'm frustrated.
My DD is 22 months, and understands poos and wees, and where they come from, and that they're meant ot go in the toilet/potty. She also sits on the potty for AGES at a time, but nothing comes out.
She has done done 2 wees, but I think that they were more accidents than anything.
I know that I have to be patient and that she'll do it in her own time, but I guess I just get annoyed at her when I read all of your wonderful success stories.
No need fro advice (unless you have a miracle idea), I just needed to vent.
Well done gals with your successes.
