I have to go away for 4 days will my booby addict 23month old still feed when I get back? Will he be ok for my dh or extremely unsettled while I am gone?

Depends on the child,
Its not uncommon for older nurselings to go days / weeks without and then randomly nurse again but you may find he does not ask again,

Ds is 22 months and I believe if I went away for a few days he would be likely to forget and not ask again.

My experience- when my DS2 was about 21 months old, I broke my wrist and spent 2 days in hospital, and an extra day at home on painkillers, so unable to bf. At that time he was a booby monster, feeding regularly through the day and every couple of hours through the night for comfort.
By the time I was able to bf again, he had became uninterested in feeding through the night (hoorah for me!), and had reduced the amount of day feeds to maybe only 2-3 a day? can't really remember. He ended up bf until he was 2.5yo.

As for coping without me, he was fine. I think he was abit unsettled the first night but was fine after that. During the day he was fine as I think at that age they are so busy that they don't really realise they're going without.

How often does your DS bf now? If it's alot than maybe he will still bf. If it's not much than I personally would be concerned that he would no longer be interested. Four days is quite a long time for a little person. How do you feel about it? Are you worried that he won't bf when you return or do you not mind?

I had two days away from my son when he was about 26 months (my partner took him to visit the inlaws). He had night weaned by then though. He was fine, but did want the boob when he came back.

I know my 23 month old would be very distressed however she's very attached to me. I guess it depends on the relationship your husband has with him / her.

I think my girl would want to try feeding again if I was away but she would struggle to get to sleep without it. Best of luck!

I was away from my 21 month old for 3 days when I had his sister. There was no chance of him weaning in that time. In fact he was more addicted than ever lol

Sorry to crash, but what if bubs were a little younger? I need to go away for work sometimes just for 36 hours and sometimes for 3 days/2 nights. I'm in no rush to wean my dd, and up until 12 months I've worked it out so that someone comes with me when I have to go away (so she can come too), but that makes those trips SO much more difficult. If I go away for 3 days when she's say 13 months and leave her with EBM is it also likely that she'll stop feeding when I get back?

Each child is different.

My son started staying with his daddy properly when he was one.
By one and a half he was having weekends with his daddy, and drinking cows milk there.

He often doesn't even ask for milk there, but he still breastfeeds with me. In fact I thought he was coming close to weaning, but this week he stepped it up again :S
So 28months old. feeds on wednesday morning 6am, then not again til sunday night. Does that each fortnight and still feeds.

Izy, do you find your breasts get engorged in that time? I have left dd2 24 months overnight twice and to answer OP the first thing she wanted when she saw me was boob! No sign of disinterest but that was shorter than 4 days. But I got quite uncomfortable so wondered what would happen if I left her longer. Would I have to dust the cobwebs off my pump?????

They used too. In the begining I was pumping at work + when I got home, etc etc. Min once a day. Then stretched to every second day. Now I mostly don't pump at all!

Every now and again I'll start to feel a little lumpy or hot, so I enjoy a shower and express a little to be on the safe side, but doesn't really happen anymore.

He Would feed all day and night some weeks and some weeks he's not overly fussed but still feeds more then 5 times in 24 hrs... I really don't want him to fully wean, but I don't really have a choice in the matter.
