DD is 12 months and BF twice a day.

It took a while to get PG the first time.

Would it be easier to get PG if I stopped BF?

Hi. Its best for your firstborn to keep BF. I am Bf and TTC and from what I have read BF can effect your fertility signs, make it a bit difficult to interpret, but thats about all. Heaps of people conceived while BF.:fingerscrossed:

I thought I had replied to this thread - or did you post this twice?

I wrote previously that you sure can get pg whilst breastfeeding though it does depend on the individual person too! Some ppl struggle to fall pg other's it dosn't make one iota of difference to their fertility;)

I feel prg first attempt while breastfeeding DD1 - she was 12 months old.

I think if your cycles have returned to normal and they are regular you shouldn't have any problems, although it might take a little longer.

Like Debz I have a 14mth old DD and bf twice per day.
I went to see my ob/gynae today to have my mirena IUD taken out, as we TTC #2. My Obs said that I should stop breastfeeding, as it will delay ovulation and make it hard to know the optimal time to BD, track my cycle etc.

I had always wanted DD to self wean or I would stop bf once I became pregnant and past 12 weeks (I have friends who bf, got pregnant, stopped bf, miscarried and always regretted weaning #1).

So what I want to know is how much does bf interfere with ovulation?

I think it really does depend on the woman! I've never had any probs conceiving while B/f and its happened 3 times for me within 3 mths of trying for each of them...But Im sure Im just v. fertile too!
