Hi Briannabear,
I am curious about Dr Khatree too. I am new in Brisbane and am looking for a gynae. I've PCOS and trying to conceive. So far no one has any experience with Dr Khatree?
How about you? What's your experience with him so far?

It appears I am digging up an old thread here, but I just wanted to let you know I've had Dr Khatree as my OB for both my babies (DS1 born at 28 weeks due to pre-e and HELLP and DS2 born full term).
I think he's lovely and best of all, he supports VBAC. A lot of OB's in private hospitals don't. Unfortunately DS2 was breech and a repeat c/sec was inevitable, but I'm going to go back to Dr Khatree for my third baby... hoping for a shot at a natural birth next time!

Thanks for the positive feedback !!! I've had Dr Khatree as my gyno for the past 9 months and he's been great in helping me with my PCOS and helped us conceive our #2. I have an appt with him next week to check my dates and was going to stick with him as our OB. I didnt know anyone who had had him as an OB, only knew others who'd seen him as a gyno. I've had bad experiences in the past with other gyno's/OB's so I wanted some positive news from someone else :)
Has anyone else seen Dr Khatree as an OB ????

Hi SethsMum, congratulations on your pregnancy! That's fantastic news, I'm so happy for you and I hope everything goes well for you at your OB's appt.
Dr Khatree is a pretty much straight-to-the-point kind of guy, not really one for an outpouring of conversation (so don't expect him to be your emotional support network), but if you want a great doctor who knows what he's doing and makes the best decision based on your situation at the time, then he's your man. Although I guess having seen him as your gyn, you know all this already!
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of occurrence contributes to a 'bad experience' with an OB?

I dont mind you asking at all LOL I've had a few gyno's over the years and one I went to for over a year with nearly monthly appointments and at my last appt with him he had to ask my whole history again cause he forgot who i was and why I was there and this man was sposed to be looking after serious problems for me. Then he gave me different advise to the previous appt only a fortnight prior. I've had that happen with a few - I was just another 'folder' and I wanted someone who recognised me, had read my file many times and actually knew what was going on with my medical issues IYKWIM. All the ones I saw were OB's as well so there is no way I'd go to them for a pregnancy if they couldnt build a trusting relationship with me.
The OB's I saw at the public hospital I went too all told me I'd be fine to have a VB and that ended in disaster becuase none of them read on my file (was definatly in my file cause I was sent to physio dept for 'tips' during the preg) that I had arthritis and major muscle/joint damage issues. Dr's I've seen since explained that a woman with muscle/joint problems who developed the problem prior to having any kids, wouldnt have muscles working properly to open the birth canal, move the placenta up properly, contract properly etc. My son got stuck in my pelvis and the public hospy made me continue with that VB (wouldnt do an emergency csection cause they thought I was just being dramatic!) and not only did my insides get torn apart and have internal bleeding and prolapses etc, my son ended up with dislocations, fractures etc which required 12 months of therapy to fix. Dont even get me started on the fact that they told me my son was fine and let us leave the hospy with him undiagnosed of his problems - that took other Dr's 3 months to work out and by then the problem was soooo much worse.
It's why I want a private hospy, a straight forward Dr who knows his stuff (Khatree picked up the muscle problems straight away and was appalled at the treatment I'd had in the public hospy as it was all preventable) and who will do whats best, and for me thats a csection. I'm not too worried about someone who will chat with me and be social, I'd rather have someone 'matter of fact', no 'bull' type who will look after me :) Emotional support I will get from my DP, family & friends :)
SOoooooooooooooooooo sorry that was so long!

WOW, a 'bad experience', most definitely. You poor woman - that is disgraceful, no one should have to go through such an unnecessary trauma like that. You must be so grateful that your son is ok now (even alive) after such a botch-up. I can well understand why you are taking a different road with this baby and I'm glad it seems that under Dr Khatree's care no such thing will occur again.
I'm with you, re seeking emotional support from your family and friends and not your doctor. Each to their own though - I do know people who choose their OB/Gyn based on whether or not they are compassionate, sympathetic etc. Whatever works for them.
As for other OB's/gyn's you have had forgetting your history etc, I can relate, with various GP's I've had over the years doing the same thing. I know they are busy people, but hell... how hard is it to take a minute before each appt to read over a person's file? And even more so if it's a specialist you're seeing. Makes you wonder how they can justify charging so much! After losing DS1 at 9wks old to an infection his little body couldn't fight anymore (he never came home from hospital), it's actually another reason I'm sticking with Dr Khatree - I know he knows my history and won't forget it. I could not face having to explain it all (maybe several times over) to another doctor.
Anyway, on that bright note (sooorrry!), I wish you much happiness in your pregnancy and a relaxing, calm c/section at the end of it. For what it's worth, Khatree makes a tidy scar!!

Haha I am related to him :P
He's a great guy, I haven't seen him personally but a friend of mine had him as an OB and she said he was wonderful.

Aw, thanks for your thoughts and concern, Smelly. That's really sweet. No, of course I don't mind you asking about DS1 - his infection was called Necrotising Enterocolitis - NEC for short. It literally means 'death of the intestine tissue' and is impossible to know how it's originally contracted.
There is a very slim chance he could've picked it up from the hospital - or me or DP. But more likely it has something to do with the premmie baby's way too immature gut (usually only babies born under 1000g are ever affected by it). When the baby starts on milk feeds (be it formula or breastmilk), for some reason the carbohydrates in the milk have an adverse reaction with the good bacteria in the intestine - these good bacteria are killed off and the infection goes on to attack the intestine tissue.
For the lucky babies, an aggressive course of antibiotics is enough to fix the damage. Other's require surgery.... but even then, for some babies it's not enough. Soooory, didn't mean to be so lengthy, hope i haven't put you to sleep, lol. I don't get much of a chance to talk about it these days, so when I do, watch out ;-) Anyway, not sure if this is allowed, but I have a website for him - only if you are interested of course:

True? You are related to Dr Khatree?? Wow, small world!! This is the same guy who works from Sunnybank Private? The reason I ask that is because I booked in for a scan one time and the receptionist had to clarify which Khatree I meant... apparently there is more than one!?
You have your matter-of-fact appts and in the back of your mind wonder what kind of family / social life etc this professional has (so ok, I do, even if no-one else does) and here, hangin out on BH is a relly of my OB! Bizarre. But cool!
