I went to see the OB on Wednesday for my 38week appointment and he asked me if I wanted him to do an internal to see if my cervix was ripe or just wait and I said do the internal. So he did it and he said that he "stirred things up" and I would go into labour within 24hours. I went home and had a sleep that day and when i woke I had a show and a bit of period pain. I was getting this pain off and on so hubby and I went to bed at 8.30pm to get some rest and I woke at 1.00am with really bad back pain and I knew they were contractions. They werent that close together so i thought. At 1.30am I rang the hospital and explained to the midwife what was happening and she said to take panadol and get some sleep. There was no way i was getting any sleep. At 2.30pm hubby woke up and by this stage I was in some pain and they were getting closer toghether. I had a shower and at 3.00am he said he was ringing his mum and to come over and look after Bailey as he could see I was in pain. We got to the hospital at 3.30am and they made me get dressed into a lovely gown and the midwife did an internal to see if I was dilated. i nearly fell over when she told me I was 8cm. I was convinced they would send me home because I wouldnt be dilated. She broke my waters and said that you are going to have this baby now. All the memories from my first birth come back to me and I didnt think I was going to have this baby. The midwife rang the ob and he just made it as the head was being delivered. 4.20am beautiful Charlize Jade was born.

I just got home today :smiliedance:
Name:Patrick Jan Alan
DOB: 02/11/06
Time: 4.00pm
Weight: 7lb 2oz
Length: 49cm
Head Circumference: 34cm
Birth Details - unfortunately he wouldn't turn so they booked me in for a c/s for last Thursday so really no exciting story to tell - so much different to a natural birth - way to clinical for me thank god I won't be having any more children. So the experience of how I had Patrick is not one I want to remember but Patrick is so gorgeous (well to me anyway:D ) I will post a photo when I get a chance to down load my camera. He and I got a great bond thing happening straight up which is really nice and I must say it seems a whole lot easier 2nd time round.

NAME-Elektra Jean
DOB-30th October 2006

WEIGHT-8lb 165oz
LENGTH-51cm
HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE-33cm
BIRTH DETAILS-Well it was lucky for me that my caesar was booked for the monday because my braxton hicks contractions were so bad the night before that they had me pacing the floor for a couple of hours........
After a fortunately good sleep, DH, mum and I all headed off to the hospital bright and early and very excited. Got settled into my room and was to head off into theatre in about an hour, so DH and mum put on their op gear and we all posed for some photos.
I then got wheeled away to have my spinal block put in which was the most trippy experience..........we were all in the so called loading dock with a nurse and anaethetist cracking jokes all the way (my mother is the proverbial class clown). The spinal block felt like a warm wave that started in my toes and worked its way up into my legs..........like stepping into a lovely warm bath. By this stage I was feeling a bit euphoric.......a range of emotions of excitement, anxiety and overwhelming love (probably the drugs really kicking in)
We then got into the theatre which I likened to a stage with the lights, props and all the theatre assistants going about their business. And before I know it after a bit of tugging here and there they lower the curtain and out pops my beautiful baby girl..........well my mum shouts out, "praise be, it's a girl" and we all coo and cheer..........it was sooooo exciting and it happened all so fast which was a bit of a shame because I love to hold on to moments, but at least we got heaps of photos with all the different stages.
They placed her on my chest and all I could do was literally shake with emotion.............it was all so overwhelming and the 2 OB's that were operating on me were just so amazing and all I can do is sing praises for them.
That afternoon.........when the visiting hours commenced from 3pm I had about 15 people come through and the only annoying bit was that I couldn't have a damn champagne because it would interfere with the morphine:mad:

I had to fast from 630am that morning, and all I could eat was a small bowl of cereal. We left the house at about 930, arrived at hospital at about 10am and went to the pathology to have my blood taken. At 10.30am we checked into the post-natal ward, and I was taken to a double room, which had another lady already in it with her little baby. The hours passed by, and at about 12pm a midwife came in and told me I was last on the afternoon operating list (I was starving!). At about 445 the nurse came in and said that they were ready for me downstairs in the operating theatre. I'd been ready since I got there, and made my way downstairs with Jamie and both cameras! I had to sign a few more forms while Jamie changed into his sterile gear, then I was taken into the Anaesthetic room for my epidural. They gave me a drip first in my left hand, then wiped cold sterile solution over my back in readiness for the spinal and epidural. They gave me a local first (which stung!) then the spinal. I could feel pain on the lower left hand side of my back and was crying out to Jamie and squeezing his hand. Then 3 other anaesthetists walked in and were guiding the first one about how to get the needle in properly. I got 3 electric zaps down my right leg. Then I felt a little 'pop' and everyone say, "there it goes" and my bum felt all warm and fuzzy. Then I was taken into the operating room, and Jamie was made to wait until they had fully sterilised me. Next thing I look down and see my left hand was all fat and blown up where the drip was inserted, and then … I passed out. When I came round, I heard “oh here she is, she’s gone from one extreme to the other!” and Jamie was behind me saying “you right babe?”. “yeah” I said. Then I heard the obstetrician say that she was cutting into my uterus, and I heard a small gurgled cry. I immediately got tears in my eyes and a big lump in my throat. “Oh Al, he’s got lots of hair” said Jamie. Then the ob held up my son for me and Jamie to see. He was so chubby and was having a good protest about being taken from his nice warm surroundings. He looked just like Gracie it was uncanny – like her twin brother born 12 months later. He had hardly anything on him, no blood or vernix. Then they took him to be wrapped and weighed, and Jamie went and took photos of him while the ob began to stitch me up. As she was doing so, she told me that my uterus was so thin that when she cut into it, her knife slipped right through it and cut the baby’s ear. She said that I’d made the right decision to have a c/s rather than a VBAC as my uterus would have definitely ruptured.
When Jamie returned, he handed me the most beautiful baby boy I’d ever seen. He had mucous coming from his mouth and his eyes were tightly closed on his swollen little red face, but he still looked gorgeous to me. He was 4105g (9lb 02oz) and 58cms long, with a head circumference of 57cm. Not bad for a week early! We named him Thomas James Lamond Hartigan. Jamie was kissing me on the forehead and said I was a brave girl and thanking me for making him a proud father once again.:)
Now our little family is complete. We love you so much already Thomas (tears in my eyes as I am writing this!).

I had a week of pre-labour regular braxton hicks that would come regularly for hours and then stop. They weren't painful, just a bit uncomfortable and I just had to get on with looking after my other 2 kids. The night before Stella was born, the BH contractions were getting closer and I sensed something might be happening. I was 38 weeks.
I went to bed but at about 3.30am had to get up because I was starting to get painful contractions. I started timing and they were already about 5 minutes apart and 45 sec long. I sat on my gym ball, watched TV and got a hot water bottle. Eventually woke up DP as I needed company. The pain got more intense and I knew it was definately on. At about 5.30am I rang my friend and support person and she rode her bike around and drove my kids to her house in my car and then came back. At first DP thought it was too early for me to go to hospital but I insisted and rang and spoke to a midwife who said come in. I decided I wanted a shower first and the water was great - I didn't want to get out! While I was in there I did a self examination and knew I was well advanced as I could feel my cervix wide open - I might have even been fully dilated. It was amazing to feel it.
We left for the hospital at about 7am. I was in agony. We got there about 7.15am and I felt like pushing when I got out of the car. In the foyer, I felt like taking off my trousers - DP and I laughed. It's the sort of thing my 2 year old DD would want to do.
Luckily my Ob was already at the hospital at a meeting. I had to be monitored because of my previous caesar scar so I got up on the bed. The midwife was great and helped me breathe through the contractions. My Ob came in and did an examination and said I was fully dilated. Pushing was hard - it hurt and I really had to work at it. But after about 10 minutes my daughter was born after everyone was urging one big last push!
I didn't tear or need stitches and Stella started breastfeeding straight away. It's so lovely to have that warm, wet newborn on your chest! I bleed a bit and my Ob had to come back and check on me but I was OK.
Then my kids came in and I had a shower. I felt great - only a little bit sore. I could have gone home that day (I thought) but decided to stay so I got the rest. After a day and a half they asked if I wanted to transfer to the Parenting Program at the Hotel Sofitel where they have an onsite midwife. (It's cheaper than keeping you in the hospital if you have an uncomplicated birth.) So I spent 2 nights on a fantastic king size bed with huge plasma TV on the 41st floor overlooking Melbourne. The food was so much better tha the hospital as I could order room service! I decided to go home a night early so they gave me a voucher for another night's stay because they needed the room!
Anyway, it was lovely to be home again in my own bed with my family around me. All in all it was a fantastic birth experience!

I went into hospital for my scheduled c-section at 6 am on the 9th of November, I got there and had a shower and washed with the special soap stuff, then got into my gown and laid on the bed waiting very nervously, Not long after the aneasthatist came in to talk to me about everything and make sure i knew all the risks and so on, then he left and I was left laying there waiting getting even more scared and nervous and contemplating doing a runner LOL.
About 15 minutes later they came and told me it was time and took me to the theatre where i was given my drip and hooked up to random other things LOL. Then wheeled through to the actual operating room, I was soooo freakn scared, I thought i was gonna pass out, They had taken my husband off to get into his scrubs and such so laying there was so terrifying, They gave me the spinal, which was scary as, then I layed back down trying to stop myself from hyperventilating, I hated the feeling of my body going tingly and numb and just wanted to be knocked out LOL. Next thing they brought my hubby in and proceeded with the operation, after feeling some tugging and pulling and strange things down below LOL I heard my baby girl cry for the first time and remembered why I had put myself through all of this again , She is absolutely gorgous and was beutiful and healthy. What more can you ask for.
The whole experience , scary as it was , was much better this time around and I enjoyed it much more then my first time.

finally our lil man arrives after one week & one day overdue. It was a horrible experience, I can't remember much so will try my best to write down what happened.
Contractions started Tuesday at 10am, 20mins apart, were not painful. By 11pm that night they were 4mins apart & dam painful, so we went to hospital. To my suprise, I was only 1cm dilated. Bubs heartbeat was too high, so they were going to c-section me, but then bubs heart beat went down so they didn't. Along comes the early hours of Wednesday morning, was put in a ward, shared with another lady in labour. By this point my contractions were 2 mins part, I was literally crying & yelling. Was given pethadine, was great for 2 hours & they wouldn't give me anymore until another 2 hours. I was not happy. I was swearing my head off in pain & screaming. Then finally Wednesday morning - they moved me 2 a delivery room. Straight away I was attached to the gas, was a small amount of relieve. I then had an epidural. HEAVEN HEAVEN HEAVEN!!! Hour or 2 later the epi stopped working, they had 2 remove it & re-insert it. The doc was jabbin at my back for 40mins trying to get it in. I am sitting on the edge of the bed latched on to my fiance gettin horrible contractions, sucking on the gas with a doc jabbin a needle into my back. OUCH!! The doc gave up!! Half hour later another doc gave it a go & had the epi set up and in within 2 mins!! OHHH i felt much better!!! By 6pm Wednesday night I was still in labour. I was not dilating anymore then 8cm & then bub went into distress. I was takin into theatre & had a c-section. They drugged me up pretty good coz i was freakin out, I can remember hearing 'ITS A BOY!!' & that is about all. It was the most painful thing ever but i am so happy our lil boy is healthy & thriving!!

I was due on 27 November but nothing seemed to be happening other that the odd pain at nighttime.
Woke up at 3am on the 29th and went to the toilet. Had a show.:yelclap: Was so excited started jumping up and down clapping. Started having mild contactions straight away at 4 minutes apart. Decided we should get ready to go to the hospital as it is and hour and fifteen minute drive away and my first birth was quite fast. Left home at 4am. The car trip wasn't too bad as the pain was manageable. Got to the hospital and at about 5.45am a midwife did an internal only to tell me that nothing is happening and they will leave me an hour or two and then send me home. I was devistated. Couldn't imagine going home and then coming back to the hospital again. Luckily another midwife came on shift about 7am and gave me some gas for the pain. Got her to crank it up to full (although hubby told me afterwards that it still wasn't on full) and then everything was a vague blur. Things must have happened quickly as i delivered at 9.38am. She came out with her hand on her chin so i tore fairly bad but as they say "no pain, no gain" :D :D . Went home 2 days later and all is well. Amberley is feeding and sleeping well and Briana is being a very helpful loving big sister.
