View Full Version : Too much tuna???
Can you eat too much tuna during pregnancy? I ate it regularly during my first pregnancy but I am living off the stuff at the moment. Tuna salad, tuna on rice cakes. Tuna, tuna, tuna. I am probably eating two mini 90g tins a day. Do you think that's too much??

I read that you should only have 2-3 small tins per week during pg due to the mercury content. Even though I wouldn't think tinned tuna would have much mercury I have still stuck to the limit just in case.
Thanks Anna. I asked my obstetrician today and she said id have to be eating massive amounts for it to be a problem. There are certain fish eg shark that need to be eaten with caution and only one portion per week apparently. She said canned tuna was fine!! Yay!! Guess what's for lunch tomorrow haha.
I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link but I have a list of mercury levels in all fish and it's been helpful with pregnancy. Light Canned tuna is very low in content but regular is mentioned being medium so I'm sure it's not going to harm but I'd try keep to the recommended consumption.

I saw a dietician during my pg with DD and she reccommended Tuna as a lunch option and that I was able to have it everyday if I wanted. I love tuna and eat it just about everyday.
