Was there anyone out there who are personal carers or EN/RNs? I have been told that carers at my workplace aren't entitled to paid parental leave, only the nurses are. I can still apply for leave just not paid. Just wanted to know if this was different with other aged care facilities or if it's Australia wide? Thanx

I think it depends on the organisation more than anything. I am going into the industry so not sure tbh.

Your award should specify it. What does it say?

It will be in your agreement or award. My DH is an RN and he was only given paid paternity leave last year with his new agreement (but wardsmen had been given paid paternity leave earlier - crazy!).
If your award doesnt have paid leave, you or your partner are still able to get the gov paid parental leave
Actually, now that I think about it didn't they bring in some sort of leave for fathers, like 2 weeks after bubs born or something?
