Hi everyone,

DD turns one in march ( i know im getting in early) and I want to make her 4 cube cakes that have A,B,B,Y on them. I did a cake making course so I know how to do te fondant icint well and everything BUT my course taught us how to make rounded edged cakes not ridgid edged ones like a cube would be. Hopefully you all know what I mean! Any ideas on how to make my fondant iced cake have sharp edges?

I think i know what you mean, you want the edges of the cube to be 'sharp' rather than rounded?

I think you'd have to press the fondant icing into a mould of some sort to achieve the sharp edges (prob put gladwrap insinde mould to make it easier to get out). You could then put the pre-shaped icing straight onto the cakes and trim to fit.

You'll have to put a photo up when you've completed your masterpiece!

at this stage im not sure if there is going to be a plan! i think i will have to post al of my attempts. I do want the cube edges to be sharp rather than round. Thanks for replying! My SIL seems to think that i should put lots of layers of fondant on it and eventually that will make it sharp ? :detective:
