View Full Version : Heat - more B/F's during the day?
Hey, with this heat should I be feeding DS more to quench his thirst? Some people say I should be giving him water but I thought Breast milk fully satisfied bubs till at least 6 months of age?
DS is 15 weeks tomorrow??
I do give Eliza water but she's 6 months, she had water at 4 months though, more for reflux issues though, yesterday and last night was a boobathon though, I assumed the heat as well, as long as you're coping go for it, water doesn't hurt them tides them over for a little while!

I did during the last summer in Brissie. Just make sure you drink a lot of extra water.
Not the most comfortable thing to be doing in the heat is it?

Hi,
If your demand feeding, your baby will ask for feeds even for thirst. I would say no need for water.
If your scheduled feeding you need to factor in that a 3-4 hr break is not going to give enough hydration, and may lead to more night wakings to catch up.
Hi, my bubs is 7 weeks - although i think he's going through a growth spurt, i have been feeding him more regularly with this heat - he's demanding to be fed more. i'd go without water - the foremilk is mostly water anyway so it will quench bubs thirst. yeaterday and friday i was feeding nearly every 2 hours - my clinic sister says its ok, especially on hot days like that. you can't overfeed a breastfed baby.
It's funny - yesterday Cobey fed every 2 hours like clockwork... I figured it was the heat.
I saw the temp today (30!!) and went "ERRK!" figuring that he'll be even more boob-hungry than normal...
nope. Ever 3 hours he's wanted a feed today... strange kid.
But yeah, as people have said, it will lead to more frequent feeding, but just drink more water so you can keep up! :)
