Birth weight: 3.5kgs
Five months now and 6.5kgs. Breastfed also, but I comp fed for the first 8 weeks. She's a hungry girl, and while she's a smidge below the fiftieth percentile for her weight, she's above the ninetieth for length.
My first was (and is) such a skinnymalinks, that this one looks quite porky by comparison. I have to keep reminding myself that she's not chunky: nicknamed her thunder thighs. Must stop calling her that.

This is interesting.
My mum (a midwife) was telling me the chart that was used back in day was roughly ...
Double birth weight at 6 months
Triple birth weight at 12 months
A third of your height by age 3
The weight rule is correct so far for my boys. And I'm looking at my nearly 3 year old freaking out at how tall 3 of him would be!
I doubt it is a third of height by 3, I heard you double their height on their 2nd birthday, which makes more sense :)

Thank you thank you thank you for this thread. My 10 week old beautiful premmie boy is 6.2kgs and growing fast. My failure to BF is a constant source of emotional pain for me and I blamed formula for such a big chubby (but gorgeous boy). It's been great to read about the similar weight ranges in those lucky BF bubs as I'm feeling a little less worried now. So many people have commented on how big he is, some with strange looks when told he's formula fed (why do I feel the need to defend myself, I already feel like a failure every time I make up a bottle) and some people are lovely about it.
Anyway, thanks again

Someone will always give their opinion, my DD1 was huge chunka fully breastfed baby, I got constant critisism! DD2 is on the smaller side, also fully breastfed, again I get constant critisism! If your baby is growing, feeding, weeing, pooing then you are doing an amazing job!

Can I just say there is nothing wrong with bottle feeding. You feed your baby what ever way you are comfortable or can. There is nothing to feel guilty about. And who cares what others think they have no idea into the reasonings. Don't be to hard on yourself about not bf. I physically could not, I had low milk supply and both my pregnancies I tried hard bf. But at the end of the day, I believe your child comes first and you feed them what ever way you can. Everyone will have an opinion. I even had midwives backing me up this time round and saying there is no point in putting yourself underpressure if you can't or are not comfortable. I couldn't give birth naturally due to medical complications and I struggle with that and add not being able to bf. However My first had about 4 weeks of combination feeding and he did not want to feed my second well she wanted to feed from the moment she came out and I tried for 19 weeks even if it were only one feed a day. But when only 20mls is coming out at a time somewhere I had to cut my losses. I at least know, that even the little bit of bf each of them got did them wonders. Don't be too hard on yourself. Big hugs to you.:hugs:
