Just wondering if toddlers having low fat yoghurt before 2 years is a really bad thing? My daughter loves the low fat varietys like ski d'lite etc. She is 17 months & still has 5 + breastfeeds a day, doesnt drink cows milk but will eat cheese.

Thanks

Dear Rainbowbrite,

As your daughter is still largely breastfed, supplemental dairy foods do not have to be full fat. For Under 2’s it is fine to have some low fat foods in their diet, so long as their primary dairy or nutritional intake has full fat milk / formula / breastmilk.

Keep in mind though that many low-fat food products have increased amounts of sugar or sweeteners to enhance their taste – so while the fat content is not an issue for your bub, you may just want to consider the sugar content.
