I'm booked in for an Endo excision in May and was just wondering how much pain I should expect to be in and how long recovery should take? I do understand everyone is different of course...
They suspect it is on my bowel as I have had a lot of issues using my bowels especially around TTOM and that if it is they will have to do open surgery as well as a lap.
I was also mistakenly diagnosed with IBS but have since put it down to Endo.
I'm really hoping not because at the same time I'm also having LLTEZ done on my cervix because I have CIN 3.
Which really sucks because we aren't allowed to TTC for 12 weeks after! Hopefully by that time though my cycle will be a little more normal.

Any experiences or advice would be appreciated thanks :)

I had a second lap last April for moderate to severe endo went in at 7 am and was going home just after lunch. I walked out of the hospital and from memory just took a couple of panadol or nurofen for first couple of days. They had to remove so much more this time and some was on bowel. Pain wasnt too bad could still function and do things just not lift anything for few days and was back to normal within week but did feel pretty good after maybe two days. It mainly hurt when standing up from sitting/laying down. Had no pain after first lap but endo was much worse this time. Hope it goes well for you and you arnt in too much pain after.

I had my lap and dye test of March 1. I was back at work of March 6, but would highly recommend having off 7 days off. I had only mild/minor endo, but had had lots of bowel symptoms at af time and they thought may be bowel involvement, but as I understand there was not (still to have follow up).

I had the surgery about 2pm and was ready to leave hospital at 6pm. Felt ginger walking to the car, but didn't really feel any pain until the 2nd evening, even then it was mild. Was just a bit sore moving from lying to sitting to standing and was a little light headed. It was mainly the belly button region that was sore, the lower incision was no problems. I had a combination of nurofen and panadeine and was given a script for endone for the first 36 hours if I needed it.

Best of luck.

hi, just thought I would pop in and share my experience. I have severe endo and have to date had 10 laps done. I have it on my bladder and bowell and also on my stomach wall but I do have to say I have never been opened up to have it excised? I have had mine removed by laser everysingle time. I do also have it growing on my ureters (the tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder) and had stents put in and my ureters lasered so in terms of sugery I reckon I have gone through it all!! I would allow at least 7 days rest and a minimum of 3-4 days bed rest. I have genereally been in hospital overnight for each surgery and more than often been in hospital for around 4 days. Pain wise it has varried depending on the extent of the surgery. If you have to have endo removed from your bowell it can be a slower recovery it took me around 5 days to do a poo after surgery and I was pretty uncomfortable because of my lack of bowell motions highly recomend gentle laxatives. Couldnt pick the kids up for around a week and genereally felt quite sore and tired. Please feel free to pm me if you need to chat, but seriously you will be ok if you have survived childbirth then endo sugery will be a walk in the park
