Has anyone else got a 6 week cycle and ttc. how do you know when you o.i am having ovulation blood tests and i might need to go on hormone tablets to get AF.anyone else and did you concieve?
well with dd i fell pregnant unexpectedly..
ds1 was planned.. My cycle is just all over the place.. sometimes af decides to visit once every 3-6 months.
I did a temp chart. And concieved a month and a bit after trying.. i was very proud :D

With a cycle that long it is near impossible to tell when you O. Blood test would tell you. The only suggestion I have would be to start charting your temps. I have gone 3 years without a cycle before and I did not concieve until I got my cycle regulated again. You may not be ovulating at all with a cycle that long, the periods you do have could just be because the lining gets to thick and sheads, not because you ovulated. I hope that makes sense. If your Dr. can induce a period you will have a better chance that your body will go on and ovulate normally. I took herbal supplements to bring on my period. Do some research on herbs for fertility and you will find lots of stuff that will help. If you want to try and determine when you ovulate, charting temps is the best way but for everyday your cycle passes 28 days you should add a day to your O date. Like I have a 38 day cycle so I ovulate around day 24 of my cycle. Opk's will help you determine if you are ovulating or not, also pay attention to your cm, and bd when it is abundant, clear, and stretcy. You said your cycle is 6 weeks long, so I am guessing that is 42 days long? If so you will likely ovulate on cd 28.
hi,
my cycle is also six weeks long and has been since i was 11!! always regular so i'm assuming that's ok. funny how you think that's a good thing when you're at school and now that its time for baby making its not so good!
i've come off the pill 3 times in the last few years and always slipped right back into six weeks from the four week cycle i was on on the pill. this is ttc month #1 so i'm not too worried, but would be interested to hear from others who have conceived and ovulate late in the month.
i'm charting my temps and will take ovulation tests starting from CD21 (i have 20 tests!!) just to make sure i catch it - if i do actually ovulate

Both the FS and Chinese Dr I have been seeing think my 6 week cycles were too long to give conception a really good try. It does look like I am ovulating (temps and other signs all good) but they both think I am ovulating too late. They gave different reasons why they didn't think this was a good thing, but same outcome - they both want me to reduce my cycle length to give me better chance of conceiving.
So I am on special herbs and having acupuncture to reduce my cycle from the Chinese Dr.
And if we don't have any luck this month, I am going on Clomid for my next cycle, which should make me ovulate much earlier. Heaps of info on Clomid on this site.
I have a 36-38 day cycle and I thought I was Oing about CD15. This month I have used Maybe Baby and have discovered I Oed on CD8!!! Was so suprised it was that early, and if I get my :bfp: this month I 'll know why it hasn't happened sooner, cause we have been aiming for the wrong time of the month! I guess all our bodies are different and we can assume they all O in the middle of a cycle.:fingerscrossed: for you

I normally have a 30-34 day cycle, (O'ing around day 16-19ish). This month was a shocker and I didn't O unitl CD 25 (making it a 39-40 day cycle!) And this was the month a got a BFP...
I thought as long as you had at least 8 or 9 days after O, any cycle length was ok.
PLENTY of people on fertilityfriend O late in the cycle and get pregnant with no meds (i know cos i'm obsessed with searching them!!) so it definitely is possible. i think the only bad thing about having a long cycle is that you have to wait for so long for the next one to arrive! so you have less chances per year to get pregnant.

Hello Trina & other ladies,
I just found out that I'm preggers on the 2nd cycle TTC#1. I O'ed on day 29 - according to my temp chart - (I had no obvious fertile CM this cycle). We last BD'ed 3 days before I O'ed and we still managed to get pg.
I was suffering all the frustrations of long irregular cycles too since coming off the pill. I found a good US website where numerous women shared their stories about successfully conceiving way later than the standard 14 days. (some women O'ed 60 days into their cycle and still conceived!).
It happened for me so good luck!! I found recording temps orally was the best way of figuring out what your body is up to - grab a digital thermo as this beeps when it has determined you temp.
Good luck!!
Nice to hear a success story manxgirl. i hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.

I LOVE to hear the long cycle positive stories - I still have my fingers firmly :fingerscrossed: for this month - finally got a +ve OPK yesterday (CD36) and all the other signs, so still in with a chance i guess!
Pippi - I am a bit concerned about you saying you O on CD8 with a 36-38 day cycle. It is EXTREMELY uncommon to have anything longer than a 16 day luteal phase (most are between 10-16), and if you really think you are o'ing that early, you should probably see a Dr. This is what Fertility Friend says anyway. But I wouldn't freak out - are you just relying on Maybe Baby? I would be careful if that was the case - a lot of people on here started out only relying on that and it can show v different results - at one point I thought I was o'ing three times a month! Anyway, as someone said, everyone is v different - but whilst the time pre ovulation can differ greatly between people, actually luteal phases are generally similar for people. Heaps of stuff on the web about it if you do a google search. Anyway, sorry for long post, just thought it might be helpful.
yay for a positive OPK!! I'm still waiting for mine...but probably won't be for another week or so. man i'm impatient!! hope i get BFP soon or i'll go crazy
good luck!
Hi Kitty1Kat,
Thanks for the ifno. This is my first month with maybe baby and I have been doing temps aswell. Trying not to get my hopes up. I had ferning with maybe baby for the last 4 days now so now im mega confused! Their website says this can mean pg but tested this morning and got :bfn: . I guess il wait a few days and try again if it contimues. AT least I have something to show the doc if this continues.
When trying for DS my cycles were 45, 39, 43 and 37 days long and I think I o'ed on CD21 when I fell preg.
This time around they have been 45, 57, 36 & 37 days long.
Very frustrating when ttc - esp the 8wk one...
We've been trying for a girl based on thinking I 'o' on CD21 and now realised that we have been missing our chance by stopping too early during the first 2 cycles.
Last cycle I used Maybe Baby and got ferning on CD24. Unfortunately, still not preg and we bd every second night. :( No longer trying for a girl, we just want another baby. :)
:fingerscrossed: for this cycle.
Good luck everyone.
I think a lot of people would assume they are Oing on a certain day when they really aren't!! takes a lot longer to conceive if you aren't sure. like pippi i'm just going to get all the info i can so if we get six months down the track we have something to show the doctor.
Len were you on the pill before trying to conceive? do you think coming off mucked up your cycles for a while or were they like that before the pill? (sorry if these are personal questions!! :) )
good luck this month everyone

Hi Ladies,
Butting in on your Q to Len Deb, sorry, I come off the pill (Levlan ED - 11yrs) and I was really regular with cycles before then, and totally all over the place coming off it. It was pure luck that we BD at the right time (well 3 -4 days before) to get pg this time, I wasn't O testing at that particular week, (although I was temping - so sussed that I O'ed after the fact) I had given it up as a anaovulatory cycle.
I know Lullaby have the cheapest O urine test kits - 20 for $35. Good for long cycles.
I've actually had some sus pains and cramps inc shoulder pain, so I'm off for a ultrasound in an hour. I'm 6wks so I so much hope everthing is ok. Good luck everyone.:fingerscrossed:
Hi girls,
I was on the pill for 10 years so was a regular 28 day girl for a long time. The the first 9 months that I was off the pill I was still like clock work, 28 days every month. Then in June this year I started weight watchers. Have lost 12.4kgs so for and have about another 16 to be a have a good BMI. This is all great news BUT during this time my cycles have gone crazy. Have become much longer anywhere from 30-38 days! So frustrating! Have any of oyu had this problem?
hi pippi,
i'm about 10 kgs bigger than when i went on the pill all those years ago so i'll see what happens now that i'm off (only my first cycle). i vaguely remember coming off a few years back and didn't have a "pregnancy scare" so i must have got my period as normal or i would have been worried!! (how times have changed).
I thought you would be closer to a 28 day cycle after all that weight loss, not the other way around! how frustrating. you must feel a lot better though. i should probably be doing that myself!
hopefully when you are a stable weight your cycles will even themselves out again.:fingerscrossed:

I have just read your thread and wanted to tell you my experience.
Went to a naturopath because sometimes I wouldn't get my periods for 3 mths then one month and so on. I would be in tears because I wasn't getting pregnant. I tried those O tests and I couldn't work them out. The herb potion the Naturopath put me on got me regular but still not pregnant.
I stopped all testing and went to Weight watchers and proceeded to lose about 12 kg's and guess what I was pregnant. I remembered losing 27kg before I got Pg with DS2 so I tried the weight loss again and with my body it got my body functioning better and when I was healthy everything else fell into place.
Losing weight did it for me.
Thanks for you stories girls! It gives me hope that I'm on the right track even if it hasn't happened yet. Lossing weight can only help and yes I feel sooo much better:fingerscrossed:
Len were you on the pill before trying to conceive? do you think coming off mucked up your cycles for a while or were they like that before the pill? (sorry if these are personal questions!! :) )
Yep - for about 10 years first time, I have no idea what I was like before that but I don't think I've ever had a 28 day cycle. And I was on the pill for about 9 months this time. :banghead: I really, really wish that I didn't go back on the pill. So, I've decided that I'm not going on the pill again until I've completed my family :D
Yep, I concieved with a 6 week cycle (roughly, not very regular). I just made sure we BD'd at least every 2nd day from CD14 onwards just in case.
Goodluck TTC:thumbsup:
