Just wondering if anyone has told their bosses yet? I am currently on maternity leave - my lovely employer has 2yrs maternity leave so technically I am not due back until August 2007 - and am not telling them until I see my O/B on 23rd October. By then I will be 10wks and so I will go to visit my branch and let them know. The actual Bank human resources I don't need to tell for a while after that. I will start my new lot of maternity leave some time around April - so will get another 2yrs off from that date :smiliedance: I love my employer.

I am pretty good friends with my boss, and she knew when AF was due so rang and asked me if I had tested yet! So she knew straight away.....
The rest of my division found out this week, and when I announced, two others said they were p/g also!
Our maternity leave allowances suck, but they are pretty relaxed about when you come back.

I Have not told my boss as yet but I am not due back at work untill october 07 as I also have 2 years maternity leave :smiliedance: with 3 months paid leave.
I will tell them at about the 20 week mark, so all going well I will not be due back at work until may 09 and then will need to go through the 6 weeks training class as everything has already changed since I left.

I had no choice but to tell work - the constant :barf: was a bit of a giveaway! Plus heaps of people had been telling me i looked awful & should go home if i was sick. So i ended up saying that i would be sick for a while, and that they needent worry, it was not contageous.
I get 12weeks paid leave - and am planning on finishing at the end of Feb, so i had better get my official notice of leave in soon (need to have it in 10weeks before EDD).
For anyone else planning on taking Leave the changes late last year to the industrial relations mean that anyone can ask for up to 2 years of maternity leave regardless of the employers policy. the legislation (both NSW & federal - not sure on other states) say that it HAS to be considered, and only knocked back on reasonable ground, so if anyone wants more than 12months leave it is worth looking into the industrial relations website for your state & checking if you are under a state or federal award. I know i will be asking for more than 12months. :smiliedance:

I told my boss at 6 weeks cos I was so excited. I said "Don't tell anyone yet". I only work Tues, Wed and Thurs and I told him on a Thursday, anyway I got to work on the Tuesday and another boss walked past me and said "Good morning, how are yoooooouuuu today?" in this really weird voice so I just knew my boss had told him! It didn't matter though, they were so happy for us becasue they knew we'd been trying for a year, so it was all good. I'll work as long as I can then I'll just leave as I'm only a temp so I don't get any leave or anything and DH wants me to become a baby machine and have another one straight away.

When I got to work this morning, there was a giant white teddy bear sitting in my chair with it's paws taped to the keyboard! It was so cute, the ladies at work bought him for me (well, for the baby anyway!). So sweet :D

I'm just going to wait until people at work start guessing... It will be a little game to keep me amused:laughing:!!!
We have alot of pregnancys at work... (I'm an aged care nurse) & a young girl got preg & told EVERYONE straight away... Well, to cut a long story short, she really milked it & did hardly any work & always rang up sick... it was the longest pregnancy in history (she would have only just had her recently). So I don't want to be a big pain in the a## or get special treatment. I want to try to work up until the last couple of weeks aswell.
My aim is 20 weeks (seem to be popping out a bit earlier this time!!!) Lets see how I go!!! HAHAHA!!!
Kristy - have you decided how long you're going to have off? I was thinking about 8weeks for me. Would love to stay home for a year, but it's just not pratical!:(

I am still yet to tell them! HEHE think I might just let them figure it out lol even tho I have suspicions a few have already LOL
MMMM well if I have a csection, I will be having quite a while off as my work involves lots of lifting etc. Otherwise I think 8-12 weeks would be ideal. But... I do not get maternity leave so fingers crossed they will let me come back without having to apply all over again and go through those group assesments thingys!!

I have told my bosses...... it is my parents!!! I work in the family business but have kept it a secret from all the other staff, the majority of my family and friends. My siblings know and my grandma, and my DP side knows too, but I just want to wait until after my first scan to make sure everything is going along according to plan, that way I don't have a million and one people to tell if something has happened. I suppose it is just me.... I am a nervous wreck or a raving looney at the moment..... damn hormones!!!

Went out to my branch this morning with Harriet wearing her "Guess What?" shirt. So they are now told but I won't inform HR until I get closer to 20wks - I am still on mat leave until next August so doesn't make too much difference until closer to the new year.

Hehehe!!! When were you actually planning on telling them? I can't believe someone asked you that... you could have IBS or something!
I go back to work after my 3 week holiday on Tuesday... I sure hope nobody asks me that!!!

Well I think I will let my boss know as soon as he is at work again. Only because I think it is nicer he hear it from me and not through the grapewine. He is a nice guy, so should take the news well :fingerscrossed:

I popped into work yesterday to get my roster for the next fortnight. Most people knew about the elopement as they had seen it in the paper, but as they were asking me about it I couldn't help but feel that they were looking straight at my stomach... one person actually said I'd be pregnant next!!! So I guess it's going to be harder than I thought to conceal!!! I'll try not to admit it like you did Kristy, I'll have to think of somthing clever to say if anyone asks (don't want to lie either!!!) - like "I went to an all you can eat breakfast buffet" - what do you think? It might just work for a week or 2!!!

work had to find out anyway when i had to leave work 'suddenly' on wednesday because of a bleed i had. i'm the third pregnancy at work at the moment - there is one girl 18 weeks and one at 19. there's the usual jokes about not drinking the water at work - hehe. mine will actually be my workplace's 11th baby in the last 4 years... so perhaps it is true about the water....
