SEA-BANDS :)

They use accupressure to create a drug-free cure. With DD I was extremely sick, with DS I was the same level of sick BUT I had a kindy kid to parent, and I just didn't have time for morning sickness. So I got the Sea Bands. And the couple of times I forgot to wear them, I got majorly sick again.

Other remedies are:
* ginger - ginger ale, ginger biscuits, crystallised ginger.
* banana's - the potassium is good
* vitamin B6 + ginger tablets (Blackmores morning sickness tablets)

And think about how wonderful it is to be pregnant! :D Sick mum = healthy baby!!

I think you've got to just try anything/everything and hope it works.
With both of the boys I had morning sickness from virtually the date of conception to the day of delivery.
I tried everything (including those sea bands...I'm still angry with those rotten things!) but I found, for me, the best thing was to just vomit and get it over with. Laying in bed, ginger, eating dry biscuits before I got up etc etc was just delaying the inevitable for me.
Like queenie said, bubs is growing and is healthy...although it's difficult to even find consolation in that when you're head first in the toilet bowl day after day!

For me it was making sure that I ate regularly BEFORE I got hungry, because once I started to feel hungry, I would be sick.

Bundaberg ginger beer helped too, it has actual ginger in it.

Fries and twisties

The only foods I could keep down that seemed to help settle the nausea.

Anything with ginger in it worked for me. I would have a couple of Ginger Nut Biscuits before I got out of bed  And would be fine for the rest of the day.

I found icy drinks the best thing for me although it was only temporary relief. Things like icy poles, cool pops, slurpees etc worked a treat for me.

Its afternoon sickness - I have just discovered orange & mango juice in our fridge and that seems to be helping quite a bit. Oh - and sleep!

I would always suck on small mints, I had a bag of them on my bed table for the first 3 months. They helped with nausea but I can't speak for the :barf: as I didn't get too much of that.
If it gets really bad, your doctor can prescribe Maxalon tablets.

I found lemon pretty good (after googling all over the net in desperation, I found that suggestion somewhere) - the juice of 1/2 a lemon in some cold water (you could try soda water too) was really great. Sometimes smelling the lemon rind helped a bit too.
Raw carrots were pretty good, and chewing fresh mint leaves.
I think the Sea bands made mine worse, but it's worth a try!

I hope it passes soon for you - it's so unbelievable foul :barf:

I have found no miracle cure, however I have got severe morning sickness. Drugs - maxalon and Zofran take the edge off, IV rehydration helps.

Hi, I just read a whole book on m/s & they thought the best advice was to dose up on zinc - it seems to be the only thing that really helps, btw ginger contains lots of zinc.

At the end of book, though, they just basically said, 'good luck'. There is no miracle cure, yet

SEA-BANDS :)

Oh I swear by them also:thumbsup: They didn't take the sickness completely away but certainly took the edge off it!

Same here! I was feeling so rotten last week with strawberry jam on toast and ginger tea my only saviours (and then the effect only lasted for half an hour or so) and had to play tennis Saturday afternoon so picked up a bottle of red powerade on the way, thinking it might give me the energy I needed. Well, its my magic cure too! Have been feeling fab since drinking that stuff!!

Miracle cure for morning sickness????? If there was one I certainly didn't find it:laughing: The only way to get rid of it is to pass the time where you don't have it anymore...LOL, which was the 16 week mark for me. And for the very unlucky ones they don't get rid of it until bub is born. The only advice I have is take it a day at a time and try absolutely everything! It will only take the edge off but nothing really cures except strong drugs or delivery. I didn't find anything that really helped for me... except ice blocks in the evening when I couldn't force down dinner (I ended up losing 6 kgs:thumbsdown:). Good luck and I hope it passes soon. The m/s will pass like a distant memory, once it's over you forget how terrible it really was. At least I have already...LOL

Yep i was an unlucky one even vomitting through my labour :(
I tried everything i could get my hands on including the drugs from the doctors nothing worked.
I was told by some friends that had bad m/s that this natural remedy worked for them etc etc its hard to find as you need to find a chemist that does these types of things usually a compound chemist. Its called Pulsatilla & it did actually help relieve my m/s for one day but as i said everyone we know who used it swore by it !!! If you want the name of a compounf chemist i know of one in the city which was where DP went to get it for me.
Otherwise all i can suggest is try everything & anything seriously sometimes its something simple that works for som women.
I hope this all passes for you soon :hugs:

I lost 9 kilos and had to have IV rehydration every 2 days...only thing that worked for me was Zofran, which is unfortunately really expensive, as not on the PBS for morning sickness. I have now got a very very healthy bouncing baby girl!

poor thing, if it's any consolation i know exactly what you're going thru, i'm 18 wks and i've still got ALL DAY SICKNESS! the best piece of advice i ever got was 'dont let yourself get hungry, that is the worst thing you can do' - you could try eating something dry and bland every hour, even if you don't feel particularly hungry, and i agree with others' advice so far - try everything coz you will hopefully hit on something simple yet miraculous that works for you! i've found toast and soda water to be my best friends - such an exciting diet lol! but ginger made me barf :) good luck to you and get lots of rest, remember you are not alone, your sisters in nausea are with you!!!

Sea-bands have been fantastic. If I forget to put them on after my shower, I find that I feel much worse...and then feel a lot better about half an hour after putting them back on. They don't take all nausea away, but they sure take the edge off. You have to make sure that you wear them in exactly the right spot for them to work, and you have to wear both at the same time for them to work, also.

Ginger tea is also fantastic at settling the stomach. Just get some root ginger, cut off a little chunk, peel it, and slice it into rough strips, pop in a cup, pour over boiling water, let sit for about five minutes, and get drinking. It has helped me when the nausea has been really bad....and tastes mild and refreshing, too....easier to drink than fizzy ginger beer in my case.

I think, too, it's important to eat whatever you can keep down. I usually only eat very good wholegrain bread, and just craved salad sandwiches a few weeks ago. Now, although I usually hate white bread, and think it's just a waste of energy with no nutritional value, the thought of whole grains is just disgusting at the moment, and I only want to eat white bread (just with honey or vegemite), croissants (which I normally don't like and wouldn't let myself eat anyway), and, like with all my pregnancies, hot chips (potato is very starchy and therefore very good for nausea). I guess these things (and for some unknown reason, the oil in them?) are easy on the stomach. Take a pregnancy supplement, and then just eat whatever you can stomach (as long as it's a safe food). As long as it's only a couple of weeks, and in moderation, I don't see any harm done.

I tried all of your mentioned remedies and more (even acupuncture). None of them worked. I threw up at least 6 times a day from 5 - 16 weeks. The only miracle cure is BIRTH! It is worth it and I'm even thinking of going for number 3.

Yep those tablets made me more sick as well  When I was pregnant with my first I had terrible all day sickness vomitting 3 times a day from about 3 months preg. Lost 7kg, couldnt stomach anything except water.

If you are having trouble eating, drink sustagen it is excellent. This time around, Im about 9 weeks and have really bad nausea all day with no vomitting. With my first I was prescribed a tablet called PRAMIN which was a miracle cure the first time around, this time around it is working too but not so well. Ive been on it for about 4 days and my nausea has subsided dramatically.

I used to have a bowl of sultanans sitting on my desk at work and just constantly eat them one at a time. I also found that the orange and mandarin flavoured G Force drink was great.

I too was sick all of the way through (only with dd though) and found that keeping busy and my mind off the nausea helped a lot!

Best cure of all is to sleep when you are feeling tired and to get someone else to feed the cats!:barf:

I purchased the morningwell cd. I suffered really badly from ms with all 3 of my pregnancies and discovered this cd for my last bout of ms.

Don't ask me how it works but it just did. Is a little pricey but for me was worth every cent!

www.morningwell.com.au

Also used seabands and they worked for a little while.

I have had terrible morning sickness for the last 7 weeks, I am 13 weeks pregnant. I ended up in hospital on Monday having a drip. I have been given Maxalon but in addition to this I have tried using travel sickness wrist bands for the last few days and they really seem to have helped. They work on pressure points on the wrists and you can sleep in them too.
