My DD is 5 months old and has had a blocked/mucus nose on and off since she was about 6 weeks old. Someone suggested that she may be having a reaction to dairy so I am going to cut out dairy in my diet. The other thing we've noticed is that she seems to be really hyperactive and hard to settle. Even with low-key activities, she seems to get overstimulated very quickly. Was wondering whether the preservatives in foods that I eat get to her through the breastmilk? She is also on Bactrim as a preventative for UTI - although it doesn't contain sugar, it has flavouring and other things I have no idea about.

Any thoughts?

Do you drink tea coffee or cola? I'm thinking caffeine, some babies react to caffeine.

The Bactrim mixture will contain artificial sweeteners, and probably artificial flavours. A compounding pharmacy may be able to make you a mixture with natural flavours and no artificial sweeteners.

Yeah, I have a cup of tea in the morning and a coffee maybe 2 times a week. Will be cutting these out now since I'm cutting out dairy.

I never realised (until a wise bubhubber told me) that a cup of tea has more caffeine in it than a can of coke!!
