Just curious if anyone who is planning to or has HAD a wishing well if you had a poem attached to it at the reception.
I've been toying with a few that I've written but can't get it quite right and my brother (who's wedding it is) is counting on me to do this for him ...... HELP?????????????????????????
this is the one im using
Our home is quite complete now,
We've been together long.
So please consider our request,
And do not take us wrong.
A delicate request it is,
We hope you understand.
Please play along, as it will give
Our married life a hand.
The tradition of the wishing well,
Is one that's known by all.
Go to the well, toss in a coin
And as the coin does fall.
Make a wish upon that coin,
And careful as you do.
Cause as the well's tradition goes,
Your wishes will come true.
So on this special day or ours,
The day that we'll be wed.
Don't hunt for special gifts
But give money is it's stead.
And as you drop the envelope,
With money great and small,
Remember, make your wish
As you watch your money fall

This is the poem that we used:
In our house we have the things
that living together normally brings
Because we've been together a while now
we've collected all our household things
before we take our vows.
To make it easy for you
and to avoid a shopping spell,
we thought that we would have instead
a little wishing well.
So please don't be offended
at our new type of request.
Just bless our little wishing well
and be our special guest.
You could always use these examples and tailor it to suit your brothers wedding, iykwim:) HTH:)

My brother in law had a 'honeymoon registry' and you just called up the travel agent and donated some money to their honeymoon. We have now all been sent out thankyou cards with photos of them on their honeymoon. I thought it was really nice. They still had people - mainly older people, buy them presents, but I was more than happy to donate money! Didnt have to worry about what to get them, and go shopping etc.

Thanks everyone,
He used one like that for the invitation ... but wants (don't know why) a little poem for the top of the box itself for at the reception .... a sort of advanced thank you so that when people put the envelope in they don't think "how rude they asked for money" but more go away with a sense of thankfulness they they were able to contribute (his way of thinking NOT mine)
they also want to glaze OVER This thing so its GOTTA be good!!!!
Thanks again.

This is what i had:-
We know you want to find something nice
But it's such a hassle to find the right price
To save you looking, shopping or buying.
Here is an idea, we hope you like trying.
Bring an envelope for those who have room,
To give a monetary wish to the Bride & Groom
Now that we have saved you, all of that fuss.
We hope you will come, and celebrate with us.
But more important we ask of you,
your prayers of love and blessings too!
