My little boy has got school sores (I think).

On Friday night he had what looked like a big mozzie bite on his leg. Saturday morning it was a bit the same but by lunchtime, it had erupted into an open, weeping sore. He now has another one coming up just under it - it still looks like a mozzie bite at the moment.

A Dr on Saturday prescribed some antibiotic ointment which I am using on the 'erupted' one and I have just put paw-paw ointment on the new one to see if it has any effect overnight. The Dr also took a swab so we should get the results on Tues/Wed of exactly what it is.

Does anyone have any recommendations on any other remedies for this in the meantime? I want to try and control it before any more arise.

Sorry to hear your little fella is out of sorts. I've inserted a hyperlink for you ... everything you wanted to know about impetigo but were afraid to ask! There was too much information to post but lots there about containing the sores and preventing further outbreaks. Wishing you all the best, cheers, deb

hey ...

as a school teacher (who works CLOSELY with munchkins!!!) - I have actually had a fair share of school sores myself!!! - not fun!!!! :(

just remember to keep them really well covered... as they are very highly contagious.. and if your little man scratches them... and then scratches other areas (including his face) they will spread like wildfire...

I haven't found anything that works other than the cream suggested to me by the dr - they are usually steriod based ??? ... (I am scratching just thinking about it!!!!!)

I hope it is just a minor case... poor fella!!!
- I hope the school sent a letter home to all his classmates... (without his name of course!!) - because they can go throughout the school if not nipped in the bud!!!

all the best!!!!
