Hi :)
Not sure if this is the right spot to put this but here goes!

Dh had a vasectomy about 3yrs ago....we have 5 kids and thought we were done......but we would love to have another baby, however when Dh went to his gp to get a referral, his gp said a reversal was not recommended due to his medical history (type 1 diabetic, addisons disease and hypothyroidism).
I was crushed!
So I am wondering what options there are available to us? I have no issues getting pregnant. Someone mentioned ici to me but I havent really been able to find out much information about it. I would prefer the least invasive (as Im sure most would!) as possible.
Does anyone know anything about ici or any other options?

Many thanks :hugs:

The method you're looking for is called ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection). In short, a single sperm is injected into a mature egg to create an embryo.

Since your DH has had the snip, the only way to get his sperm is by testicular aspiration (TESA). The number of sperm retrieved with a TESA is only a fraction of what he would naturally ejaculate. Because of this, you would need to do an IVF cycle with ICSI.

Its very invasive for both partners, and will cost you upwards of $10K. I know its not what you wanted to hear, but I'm afraid there's no simple way after something as permanent as a vasectomy.

The least invasive option in your case would be insemination with donor sperm.

ETA- I've assumed your DH didn't have any sperm frozen before his operation. If you have frozen sperm available, then you could do IUI with that.
