We really can't measure how much our baby drinks. How do you know your baby had enough?

Plenty of wet nappies. Some weight gain. (doesn't have to follow the line though) content after most feeds and can fall asleep on the boob. They don't always fall asleep or seem content but this can be colic, reflux, over tired, fast let down or slow let down etc.. Gulping sounds when they are little and drink. When you demand feed, the more they take the more you produce so sometimes it may seem they are endlessly hungry but that's normal

I feed on demand and figure she's had enough because she can last 2-4 hours between feeds and is content between feeds, generally. Plus she seems to have enough wet nappies. Oh, and she's gaining weight and following the same curve on the growth chart.

Why do you ask?

To Hollywood - I used to feel the let down when DD was smaller. Now she's 5.5 months old and my boobs are usually soft and I dont feel my let downs anymore. Just hoping DD is getting enough. I pump once a day and gets 3oz on 1 side.

It's quite common not to feel engorged or notice your let-down as your baby gets older. The main things to look out for are plenty of wet nappies (pale-coloured urine), some weight gain, good skin tone, content some of the time...

My boys are quite small but it is genetic :) I just looked out for the above signs that they were getting plenty of milk. Expressing isn't a good way of checking as babies are much more efficient at removing milk than a pump is.

Me too I'm petite so are my DDs. Dd1 was breastmilk and formula because I doubt my milk production skills. With dd2 I gave it a try 100% breastmilk and i got lots of milk when she was little. I got engored, mastitis, milk showers and leaks but now my boobs seem normal. I read that eventually the supply will meet the demands but sometimes I doubt books so it's good to hear from real mums with their real experiences.

I change nappies every 3-4 hrs except nighttime. They have clear pees but not that heavy. Poops ok. She fusses but most bubs fuss for any reason.

So I guess I'm okay.......
