I think they can do them at the Hobart Private, but I'm not sure. You could always give them a call and ask? :)

Yep they can do the 3d and 4d ultrasound at MIA at the Hobart Private....that's where we had ours, don't bother calling and asking because the girls at the front desk had never even heard about a 3d or 4d ultrasound before lol

Just let the technician know when you're in there and if they have time they'll give it a go.

You need a referal from your GP to get an ultrasound done, and then you just ring MIA and make an appointment.

Its on the first floor of the Private. I had all my scans done there because you get them on CD. :)

It will cost you about $120 for your 12 week scan and about $180 for your 20 week scan. They may charge more if you have the 3D thing done though.

mmhmm you'll need a referal....I think you said the dr gave you one for the 12week scan???

They can process the medicare thingo on site so you should only have to pay the $15 difference (or whatever it is), and yeah I dunno if they'd charge you extra for 3d/4d.....watch out though, cause my OB said we'd have to pay $230 for out NT scan (12week scan) so we didn't get it done....just double check when you make the appointment what it'll cost.

We didn't have to pay extra but it was for our 20 week scan so it might be different...and its not routine, they'll only give it a go if they have time and have done all the other measurements they need to do etc.

Yeah, we didnt get the NT done either, so we saved quiet a bit on our 12 week scan as well. :)

My heart stopped when you said $230! LOL

Hey guys iv been looking everywhere tryin to find a answer as to where i can get a scan done. I got my 20 weeks scan done at royal and the printer was broken so i didnt get any pictures and im so disapointed. I really want a picture from this stage so can i still go anywhere to get scan even though i am goin through the royal?
Also do all doctors give you a referal no worries?

Hi Bianca, you certainly can.... I think you should be able to get a referal with no worries.

If you explain to your doc how disapointed you are, most will let you go again.

The private will cost you about $150 though (I think), but you get most of that back from Medicare! :)

There is a place in Glenorchy in between the Big W car park and Allgoods that do scans. It's called Radiology Tasmania and they bulk bill, all you need is a referal from your GP and they try and get you in on the same day. I had x-rays and a DVT scan done there, the scan was put onto disc and it's all done in 3D. I also heard someone in there saying that they were having a 3D baby scan done that day.
Hope this helps in some way, even if it's only as a fall back.
Cheers,
Kristy.

P.S: My nephews girlfriend had a 3D scan done at the Royal when she was pregnant, they have it in a photo frame and it looks really cool.
