DD is 12weeks tomorrow- she seems to have great head control, both when held and when on tummy- able to push up on her arms and hold head up to 90* and look around! She has also begun rolling from her tummy to her back.

But.... when she is propped up sitting, or held she holds her head to the left, kind of on a 45* angle... I thought it was cute but over the past few days people have commented on her wonky head!
I wasn't too concerned but now that people are commenting i'm a little worried there is something 'wrong'???

Is this normal or should i get her checked????

If I remember right,I 'm pretty sure my DD did that too,for a while anyway, and to the left, but I think it was because she didn't have great head control,it just seemed too heavy for her to hold up properly.
Sorry I'm no help but if you are concerned perhaps get her checked out at the doc's or your clinic if you have one. :)

The chiro I was seeing for a while specliased in mums and babies, and he said that quite a lot of babies necks are put under extreme stress during childbirth and sometimes need a little adjustment.

Did you have a normal delivery?

This may have nothing to do with the tilt, it's just something I remember him saying so please don't panic too much. I'd recommend doing some light massage in the shoulder/back/neck area though. If she's feeling a bit sore it might just ease it up.

It does take them a while to master head control too.

Your baby may have what I think is caused tortolitis? where muscles on one side of the head are tighter than the other. This requires physio to correct. I would definately go and see your early childhood nurse for an assessment and referral if required. The topic is covered in the Baby Love book which I don't currently have to hand. :)
