View Full Version : Lipiodol Flush
Hi girls,
my Naturopath suggested I have a Lipiodol Flush performed.
Does anyone know a Gyanecologist that does this procedure?
I live in northern NSW, so someone at the Gold Coast or possibly even in Sydney would be good.
Has anyone had this procedure done and what was your experience?
Thank you!

Hi MJB22
I actually just had lipoidil flush done last week. It is performed alot in NZ as IVF is very expensive (even more than aust!) and they try to do as much as possible to get people preggers naturally.
It was done at my suggestion after researching it and my Dr had only done it once before but said that we may as well try it. I was to have a hysteroscopy done anyways so she did it while I was under anaesthetic as she said it is thick and needs alot of pressure. The dr also had to order it from somewhere, but i'm sure any Dr would know where to get it.
I have had 5 years of unexplained infertility and am about to start another round of IVF as soon as AF arrives. We have tried many many different methods naturally and with help with no luck yet. Apparently lipiodil stays in your system for 6 months, so if i get preggers in that time I will certainly be singing its praises.
I can't tell you if it has helped yet but I say anything is worth a try.
We are with Genea in Newcastle.
Good luck and let me know how you go
xo
Hi PoppyLoppy!!!
Thanks for your reply!
Yes I did lots of research myself too.
I heard that lipiodol enhances fertility and has a positive effect on the immune response of the Uterus, which might mean that the embryo might 'stick' and not miscarry.
I might have just found a Dr in Brisbane who hopefully :fingerscrossed: can do this.
I am trying to get an appointment soon.
Good luck with the next round of IVF and let me know how you are going!
Cheers

Hi Ladies. I know this is an old thread, but just bumping it up to see what your outcomes were after the lipiodol flush? I'm thinking of having this done. Did you have success?

Anyone??
Hi peonies!
Long time no speak! I've been off BH for such a long time now!
I came on looking for lipiodol flush as I'm going to Sharkeys and they recommended it.
I was looking for someone in Sydney but no luck so far.
Hopefully if we keeping bumping this, someone will see it.
Sharkeys only advice was to google 'lipiodol sydney'. They did say that I could have it done at the same time as a laparoscopy (?sp) to check for endo.
Good luck!

Hi Lola! Hope you're well.
I found out about the lipiodol from another friend on here from Brisbane who had it done. I saw my FS yesterday (we're not currently doing IVF, but just trying with a private donor at home and AI) to ask about a number of things he might be able to check out or help us with, to help achieve what we want without returning to IVF. He agreed with me that checking/flushing my tubes would be a good idea, just in case. He was a bit unconvinced about the lipiodol flush over just doing a HyCosy with the medium that's usually used. BUT he is happy to do it if I want that, AND if he can get his hands on that lipiodol medium fairly easily. He is going to find out & will get back to me on that next week. I'll let you know how that pans out.
This was IVFA. Is that who you were with?
No I was with Genea, but I've not spoken to my FS since ET last February! So don't really have an expert I can ask questions of right now :(

I understand. I'm on a break from the IVF too, but just had a few things I wanted to know about, including this ... so I emailed him a list of questions in advance and went to see him. I'll let you know how I get on.
