Hello Ladies,
My partner and I were discussing names over dinner tonight for our baby boy thats due in December.
I was just thinking out loud and mention the name Ocean, to go with the surname Oliver.
Martin, my partner has fallen in love with the name, I'm a bit confused. I like it but not sure if it's cruel to call a baby Ocean and having to live with it for ever???
We both love Jasper too which I think is alot more suitable.
Please, please could you let me know what you think.

I agree with mammajack jasper is really cute for a bub but still manly. I think ocean is cute but not for a man. But thats jsut my opinion :D

I love the name Jasper,it's a great name that will carry well into his adult years.

I like the name, but not for a boy and also another thing to think about is in my baby name book it gives the tip of not naming the child with a name that starts with the same letter as your surname

I have avoided all H names lol

I always tried to think of my child (when naming them) in a professional role when an adult and whether the chosen name would suit. I never named them seeing them in the eyes of a child but rather an adult is what im trying to say. Based on that Ocean Oliver wouldn't be my choice sorry.

Thank you for your responses, I have to agree with you too but my partner is still keen for Ocean after sleeping on it. I think he imagines the baby to be a rock star rather than a professional in later years!

Has he considered all the stages of life, from baby throughto really old man? If you both like it, go with it, but maybe just ask him if he likes it for an 80 year old? :o

I have to disagree with most of the posts and say I REALLY like it!I think it would be a very strong, manly name!It's something I would never have thought of but I think it's really cool!Ha ha just sorta rolls off your tongue. We actually have friends (who own professional fishing boats) who just called their son Reef (which I personally don't really like).If I didn't already know that my baby(due in Nov) was a girl it would be definitely at the top of my list for a boy!
