What have you used to boost your supply and did it work?

My supply seems to be dwindling even though I have been expressing for 10 mins each side each day to help stimulate supply and drinking heaps of water.

I'm keen to try something to help but not sure what. I'm not a big fan of tea so need something nice tasting!

TIA :)

Fenugreek tablets worked wonders for me. You can get them in the herbal section of pharmacies.

You can get nursing tea from health food shops. It tastes a bit like aniseed but not as strong. I quite liked it. I used it plus fenugreek tablets. There are also prescription meds you can use to boost supply. I was on them for 4 months and they worked reasonably well for me but I had a premmie and really low supply (some days I could only express 80ml for the whole day, expressing 8 times). I'd only go down that route if your supply is very very low and you are desperate to keep BF. It's a HUGE commitment. I was BF, then bottle feeding expressed EBM (even I it was only 5ml) and then bottle feeding formula and then expressing again straight after a feed to stimulate more production and expressing throughout the night. Ended up holding on for 6 months but it totally consumed me.

Hi, I have oats for breakfast sprinkled with linseed/flaxseed. By the afternoon/early evening I tend to feel more full. I saw on T.V yesterday to boost your supply; don't sleep on your stomach and drink non-alcholic beer. There you go!

I breastfeed more. Plus I make sure I'm eating enough calories and drinking plenty of water. How many feeds a day is your baby having? And how often?

Brewers yeast :) there are heaps of different recipes you can make. I'll see if I can find the lactation boosting cookies thread and bump it for you!
Sooo yummy!

Keep your eye out :)

(ps Domperidone/Motillium is wonderful stuff it REEAALLY worked for me, and quite quickly, and got us from 4 months to 10 months when nothing would work, not even hourly feeding would boost my supply.)

I have flaxseed (sprinkled over oats), or eat the lactation cookies. My sister makes them with smarties in them, yum :D

Otherwise there is a breastfeeding supp you can buy which contains both blessed thistle and fenugreek.

I also notice a big difference if I drink more water.

Thanks all!! LG - She is 6 months old, feeds 3 hourly during day and 3-4 hourly thru the night. She usually only takes one side at a time, but sometimes will have both.

Ill get onto the cookies! (sounds more appetizing than tea :)

I'm eating them right now and they definitely work! I actually got a little carried away with them when DS was younger and ended up engorged :(
