I'm getting married on saturday :freakingout: at the old treasury building, and we haven't decided where to take our pictures. I don't really wanna do the garden location, they're lovely and all but I want something different. I'd really like to use something iconically 'melbourne', like the lane ways, but DF isn't keen on that since they'll probably be quite busy... any suggestions of other places? Ta :)

We did outside exhibition centre, south bank and south Melbourne on our wedding day, which was raining, and a Friday afternoon so traffic was really bad (can't believe we didn't think of that)

We also did a TTD shoot a couple of weeks later and got awesome photos - much better than the photos from the day, as we weren't rushed and it didn't matter if my dress wasn't perfect. DH had hired his suit so he just wore a plain black suit for the TTD.

we did Flinders st station, st peters? (the church across from flinders) , hosier lane and then beach shots down at Port Melbourne.

If you get a chance to do a second shoot I'd highly recommend it :)

We wanted to do the laneways too but ran out of time!
We had the majority done at Abbostford Convent, in the grounds, in the old building and in the courtyard...not really "Melbourne" but a stunning place! Only downside is that its not free..It cost us $200 for the allocated hour, but they were very generous and let us over stay our time:)
Some of the pics are awesome!

Ooh I didn't even think of southbank! hmm definite possibility. DF will probably refuse flinders station too  however I will then point out that the lane ways will be much less busy than a train station lol. Thanks :)

We had our photos taken in Williamstown, it was great because there is the beach part, park, restaurants (I am sure there was a lane way near a couple of them) and around the back there are some old buildings.

Ask your photographer / car driver

Out the front of some of the shops/buildings along the spring street end of Collins street would be beautiful. Also I love the idea of the bride & groom sitting at a coffee shop having an espresso, at a table on the sidewalk, very "Melbourne" to me :-) I wouldn't avoid the streets, I would think most people would move out the way when they see a bide & groom. Plus the beauty of Melbourne city are all the characters that are in and around it :-) I would avoid bourke st mall & Melb central though as they are just chaotic on a Saturday. But other streets like Collins I always find a bit quieter on Saturdays. King st is usually empty! All the suits are home for the wkd :-) enjoy your wedding day, your photos will be amazing!
Oh I just remembered I had always thought swanston street between Collins & flinders on the side with the trees & lamp posts would be fabulous photos of a bride & groom walking hand in hand, stopping under a lamp post to hug each other, even better if there was an old style tram coming through... Melbourne city is so beautiful. Good luck, your day will be perfect! xx
