Hi all

My DD is 6 weeks old and I have been wondering if she sleeps too much during the day. At night she falls asleep 9-10ish, wakes up twice during the night, and is up around 7am. She has 2x2hr naps, and two to three little naps in between. I am always worried that if she sleeps too much during the day, she will wake up at night. I'd love to hear from others how much their bub sleeps during the day. I know it's early days but I'm so tired and look forward to her sleeping through the night.

Thanks!

Hi:wave:

My newbie is 8 weeks old and sleeps and sleeps and sleeps during the day!!! I was a little worried about it too, but i looked it up in my Robin Barker book and she says newborns sleep betweek 9-18 hours in a 24 hour period. So i stopped worrying about it.

ATM mine is 8 weeks, sleeps generally 2-3hours at a time during the day, wakes for feed, awake for maybe 1hr(sometimes not) then another 2-3hr etc. At night she wakes once, sometimes twice for a feed.

It's very normal for newborns to constantly sleep. That's what they do, besides poo and feed
At this age you will also start to see changes as they get older. Try not to worry too much. Your little one is obvoiusly getting the right amount of sleep that suits her.
