Can't tell you what sort of bike to get......do you have a bike shop nearby?

I went and saw our local bike shop and they were a great help when I was trying to get DS a bike.

Kids need to be able to touch the ground with one foot while sitting on the bike seat. This is for safety reasons so that while riding they are able to safely get off the bike when they stop. I think kids feel more secure when they can anyway.

No recommendations on which bike to get. Bike shops have a good range and vary in prices. Kmart and places like that do too. I dont think it matters at such a young age to have a particular brand in bike as they grow out of them so quickly and are hard to sell (re the cheap bikes from dept stores!). We have had both, good brand and cheap. I really think the cheap ones are good enough.

One word of warning though. If you are buying from a dept store and getting the bike for xmas, make sure you put it together well before xmas day if you can. This way if there are any parts missing or there are any faults, it will be disastrous on xmas day!! (a mistake well learnt!)

Have fun choosing!
