Im a big girl gotten bigger with each preg and im not overly short but not average either. im 26wks preg and just put on my first 3kgs in the last few wks in this preg, that puts me at a whopping 93kgs on my scales i think 91 on my drs anyway if i hit 100 which i hope i dont or more would i be too big to have the baby at my local hopsital in the country. I have heard of big girls not being allowed to have there babies at some hospitals but not sure if thats woman alot bigger than me or about the same. im freaking out. I dont see myself as obese yet bmi wise i am but i feel huge at the moment being preg. sorry rambling on here

Generally all country hospitals have weight restrictions in regards to if they will deliver you there...you need to ask your local hospital or wherever you plan to deliver. Keep in mind you are only 23 weeks still another 17 weeks to go and in the last 10 weeks is when baby most of its weight on....It also depends on your prepregnancy weight as to whether you are "too big" or have put on "too much weight" I put on 26kgs with both my pregnancies and was for ever tut tutted at....but I never got over 95kgs. Your bmi as harsh as it sounds is the best indicator for overweight/obese/or healthy weight ranges. Anyway check the weight limit at your hospital..... and don't worry too much....:ecomcity:

My last pregnacy I put on over 40kgs! So don't feel bad about putting on 3kgs.

I have heard that many bigger ladies don't actually put on alot of weight when pregnant at all just a few kgs here and there - and usually no more than 10kgs.

I doubt the hospitals are talking about ppl over 100kgs as being a risk and not allowing them to birth there - I think you will find it is alot bigger ladies (I could be wrong though - but I think I am right)!:p

My cousin was 133kgs when she was full term with her last son. She had him at a country hospital, so I guess it can be done!

Actually most country hospitals won't deliver over (110, 120, 130) just depends where you are.....the beds just don't support that weight and people over 100kgs are a much bigger anaesthetic risk should they need to operate or even if you wanted an epidural....

So I take it those hospitals also turn away any man that is over 100kgs or so?

I don't know about that, I just know we often get pregnant women in that are unable (unfortunately) to deliver at their nearest hospital due to weight limits

Try not to let it worry you too much. Firstly I'd check with your hospital and see what their weight limit is, like you said, each hospy is different. I stopped weighing myself last pregnancy when I hit about 123kg - I would guess it to be a fair estimation to say that I was around 130kg or over when I delivered. Even at this weight the birth centre at our hospital was happy to take me as I wasn't considered high risk as every aspect of my pregnancy was healthy and I was healthy if you discounted the obesity. I ended up having an epidural and there were no complications with that and I delivered a wonderfully healthy baby boy with no complications at all, his APGAR was 8 and 10. This pregnancy I'm already up to 117kg, I'm trying to manage my weight while pregnant but unfortunately I'm just not very good at it. I'm healthy, the baby is healthy and my Doctor and the hospital are happy with the way everything is progressing.

I guess all I'm trying to say is that so long as you are being healthy and your pregnancy is progressing well then don't stress about it too much. At the end of the day it won't matter where you have your baby, sure, it would be more convenient to have it at your local hospy but then again nothing about babies is convenient, lol.

thanks everyone. i might mention it at my drs but that said i might not as it would only depress me and make me stand on the scales more. Ive had each of my babies in perth at kemh but not due to my weight due to pre eclamsia and last time the u/s showed bub on the smaller side but he was fine when born. Fingers crossed i will have this one here:fingerscrossed:
