The Bub Hub turns 9 today!!
:celebrate:
Hi everyone!!
The Bub Hub is celebrating its 9th birthday today! Almost double figures!
Kinda wish it wasn't a public holiday cos if we were in the office there would be a high probability of cake...
What do you buy for a 9-year-old? What an awkward age ...
Anyway - this is what went down nine years ago ...
The Bub Hub Birth Story ...
The Bub Hub - Australia's largest independent pregnancy and parenting site - launched nationally on Australia Day in 2003 which means we turn 9 today!
The idea for the Bub Hub was born in June 2001 - inspired by the birth of Brad and Hilary Lauder's first child.
Hilary had only recently moved to Australia from the UK and had found it difficult to access information about local parenting services, activities, products and stores.
To bridge this gap she set about designing a website herself. Hilary began working on the content of the site and when it became apparent that more resources would be needed, her husband Brad was recruited from his marketing job and the Bub Hub was born.
The Brisbane site was officially launched on March 27, 2002, as the Lauder's celebrated their son's first birthday.
It wasn't long before the site expanded beyond Brisbane. The "national" site (for Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia) launched on Australia Day 2003 and by December the ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania were included - making the site truly Australia-wide.
The Lauders still own and operate the site from their home in inner north Brisbane.
