My son is 11 months old and lactose intolerant. He can handle small amounts of cheese and thats all.
I would like to have him completly off the bottle by 12 months but am confused. Is there a particular milk to give him or should I continue with his lactose free milk in a cup.
Does anyone know how long you can give them lactose free formula for?

im not sure if this will be much help but my little boy who is also lactose intolerance is on formula for it and i was told by my doctor to try him on full cream milk at 12 months to see how he will react... but as u have said he can only have a little cheese so maybe go to the gp or health nurse and see what they say. but a friend of mine had a son with the same condition and put him on the a2 milk and he has been great on it.... but it is so hard i know it is really trial and error isnt it...

can i also ask what formula are you using?

I'm too scared to try full cream milk. Last time he had a bit he had stomach cramps for a full day - it was horrible.
I've got my son on s26 lactose free formula. Its about $18 a tin but as I have a health care card my doctor put it on script and I get 5 tins for $4.60. I bought some lactose free chocolate milk (its long life milk) just as a treat and my boy loves that. I think it tastes like normal chocolate milk - just alot weaker.
