I have breast fed my 3 month old DD from day one without any problems whatsoever in fact I always had lots of milk and was able to express one bottle a day which my hubby used to feed DD at night

About 2 weeks ago I became very sick with the flu and was literally flat on my back for about 10 days. I continued to feed DD (although it was hard as i was very weak) and now that I am better I have found that my supply seems to be very low. I have tried to express between feeds to help increase the supply but whenever I express now I am lucky to get 5mL! I also am having trouble with the letdown reflex ... it doesnt happen anymore when I try to express and when I am actually feeding DD she gets very frustrated as it takes up to 2-3 mins before the milk starts flowing.

I have tried to drink lots of water and even feed her small amounts between feeds to help increase supply but she doesnt seem interested when I offer her the boob again after a regular feed

What can I do to get my milk back?? Would an electric pump help with expressing as I have only ever used a manual one in the past?

Thanks for reading

Kate
