Hi. I took my DD (2 weeks) to the Paediatric Chiropractor today and he suspects that she has a broken collar bone.
This would have happened during the birth and apparently is quite common - 2 or 3 in every 100 births!
He said that as my labour was fairly fast that may have contributed....(2 hours 19 minutes total)

I can not believe it wasn't picked up in the hospital OR by my maternal health nurse who we have seen twice........!!! The Dr. also said that someone should have picked it up.

Has anyone else had this happen or any advise to help me?? I know there is nothing that can be done for it and we just have to keep an eye on it and watch to ensure it heals properly.

Anyway we are off for an x-ray tomorrow and back to the chiropractor next week........

This hasn't happened to me personally, but  I have heard it is quite common.
It's a bit of a shocker that it wasn't picked up at the hospital before leaving.
I'm sure all will be fine.

Well i wouldnt be getting too worried until you have the x-rays to say so but sometimes these things do get missed but in saying that if it was broken im sure it wouldve been picked up by now.
When i had a neck injury a few years ago it wasnt until i had been in pain for 3mths that someone decided to check my collarbone it wasnt broken but had been causing other dramas but at the same time the real cause of my pain was never found.
Im hoping for everyone its not a broken collarbone
Good luck :hugs:

Well, I forgot to pop back in here & let you all know that in fact Charli's collar bone IS broken but is healing well.
There is nothing we can/need to do just hope that it heals well (which it appears to be doing).

All I can say is I am so glad I took her to see the Chiropractor "just incase" there was anything wrong. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Charli is not showing any signs of pain or loss of movement or anything so that is great.
