Hi everyone,
I am 16 weeks pregnant and also breastfeeding my 16 month old. If she does not stop feeding before this baby comes I want to feed both. I am wondering how other little ones coped when mum was in hospital and not there for them to feed.?? I think my little one would be very hard to settle at night without me to feed her. Most people tell me to stop feeding her when she wakes but i prefer to do it to settle her quickly so she does not wake her brothers.
thanks for any help;

thanks for that site janetf. it has good info. I would still like to know if anyone can give a personal experience if the toddler coped while mum was in hospital. I am really concerned about this. If I had enough money I would have a home birth as I really don't want to leave her. (or the others for that matter).

I guess there are not too many tandem feeders on this site, I am quite lucky, as I am having a homebirth, and have arranged for a support person to be around to specifically look after ds, but of course i will still be there. To be honest, I'm not sure how I'll cope if ds wants to feed during labour, but will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Have you got any family that your child really trusts, and would be able to help you out? And how about looking at early discharge from the hospital, last time, I was in hospital for a total of 3 hours, so it is entirely possible, you just need to stand up for yourself a bit and tell them you are leaving.

All the best.
