Employer paid ML followed by PPL

Just a question. I am on a 2 year contract and qualify for employer paid ML at full pay for 17 weeks.

I want to take more time off, so can I take my employer paid ML then take the governments parental leave? I think i read on their website that you can but that seems too good to be true!

Hi Lolz. I'm currently on maternity leave. I used up all of my employer-paid parental leave and then had the government paid parental leave kick in immediately after that. Was no problem at all (except the government application form feels like it's about 400 pages long...).

OMG - thanks all. This is such good news. I hadn't dared to look into this - 12 weeks today so I reckon I can go ahead and celebrate :smiliedance:. Love it.

Yep its true after work mat leave, PPL and some saved holidays, I had 12 mths paid!!!!!!:celebrate: What a wonderful country we live in!

You can also elect to get them paid together. I'm currently on paid mat leave at half pay and PPL.

For tax purposes I took employment paid ML at half pay and then took PPL starting in the new tax year. As I won't be returning to work, doing it that way maximised the financial advantages for us.

I have just returned to work after having 9.5 months off. All paid thanks to PPL, Employer Paid ML and Annual Leave. I thought it was too good to be true too! Good luck with it all OP :-)

Yeah it's all good, just get onto centrelink early with the paperwork or online forms so it's definitely organised by the time you want it paid! It may take a while!
