Hi everyone

Me again ... The Baby is sleeping and The Toddler is playing with his cars so while I've got some free time I thought I'd start a new competition on the site!!

You told us - in the Bub Hub Survey - that we need more reviews on the site ... reviews of high chairs, slings, nappies, wipes, sleeping and settling books etc etc etc.

So if you add a review between today (January 11) and Sunday Jan 15 (before midnight Brisbane time) you'll go into the draw to win one of three Smash and Nude Food Movers packs (just in time for Back to School!!)

Each pack will contain:
1 x Smash Insulated Lunch Case with Bottle RRP $13.95
1 x Mini Rubbish Free Lunch Box RRP $9.99
1 x Muffin Mover RRP $3.99
1 x Banana Mover RRP $5.99

Add your review here: http://www.bubhub.com.au/reviews/

Thanks! :)

We abide volutarily by the WHO Code - as part of that, we're not allowed to 'advertise' bottles unless they are part of a breastfeeding system (ie breastpump) and so we haven't included them in reviews.

But we'll look at the Code again and double-check whether we'd be allowed to include them in reviews.

How annoying! Not everybody is able to breastfeed even if they want to! I know i'm not bottle feeding by choice :(

What about sterilizers? Are we able to review those?

I know - we bring that point up regularly with the lactation consultants and other organisations. I'll see if we are able to add them for you.

I breastfeed and use bottles?

Formula feeders aside, it doesn't really assist people returning to work and still breastfeeding. Or Mum's with PND who keep sane by giving the odd bottle of EBM. Or Mum's who just want a night out but are still breastfeeding.

We feel that supporting the WHO Code is important - it's an important code that tries to stamp out unethical marketing of formula in third world countries. Whilst that's not much of a problem here in Australia, it's important for the 1st world countries to stick up for our less well-off sisters.

Having said that, we agree that some of the rules around the WHO Code can seem a bit daft too.

I totally take you points and as I said, I'll see if we can add bottles and sterilisers to our review categories in due course.

I understand the reasoning, I suppose I'm just looking at it from a different, more personal perspective.

3 reviews done so far.

I had a little trouble as when I went to the review pages I kept having to log in again and then lost some of my information. It took me a couple of times to get 1 review up. Can someone tell me if this is a setting issue on my computer or something else?

It's not you, it's the system. We're trying to fix it.

Wow. I'm really surprised by this. Apart from the fact that I breastfeed and use glass bottles so that my partner can have a hand at feeding, I find other sites that support the WHO also advertise and review bottles regardless.

Despite this, personally, I find the WHO regulations for the most part rather irrelevant for Australia which is why I've never paid attention to what they've had to say. I know many health professionals don't either.

I am genuinely surprised BubHub have given credence to WHO's stance on this.

Hi Caviar

Can you email me links to sites that support the WHO code, that do have the reviews? I'd really appreciate it, as it would help us work out exactly what CAN be reviewed and what cant be.
We've always had really strict rules as to what can and cant be advertised, due to the WHO code, so the information would be greatly appreciated - veve@bubhub.com.au

we will definitely look into the rules/ regulations more regarding possible reviews :)

Thanks :)
Jen

:fingerscrossed: I really hope it can be changed. It makes me feel like a bad mother because i bottle feed my baby. Due to intolerances i had no choice but to stop breastfeeding him and put him on prescription formula. Mothers should never be made to feel guilty for bottle feeding whether it be EBM or formula.

What i find really silly is even when i was breastfeeding i still used bottles and a sterlizer so really don't see the issue
