I think I remember someone else asking this before, but of course I can't remember the answer (if there was one). Basically I've got some awful brown stains on my nappies (from wee) that only fade after several washes and don't shift in the sun. Does anyone have any ideas for how to get rid of them or not get them in the first place! - they're driving me mad :banghead: The stains turn up if the nappies are left for more than about 12 hours - and I just can't wash them that often! Thanks. :)

Hi Beck, if it was me, I'd do it.................. but then I don't really have the "issues" with napisan that some do - it's apparently biodegradable and doesn't harm fabric (not so sure about elastic) so I'm sure a one-off wouldn't do to much harm. You could always try chucking a lidful in the wash instead of soaking - I do this from time to time and my nappies are all fine (except for the revolting brown stains!!!! But I haven't napisan-ed them because they're mostly on my dyed nappies :banghead: ).

PS I used to use napisan as my detergent for quite a few months - I'm still using some pocket nappies that I washed ALOT then and they're going as strong as ever HTH.

I have made a paste out of some Pink Nappisan and left it on the nappies for at least a couple of hours. It worked a treat and they came up like new. I wasn't game to soak the nappy and I only put it directly onto the stains, and then washed them how I normally would.

Hi Tea Lady,

I asked about some breastfeeding poo stains on my hemps, someone suggested putting lemon juice on them before hanging out in the sun and that worked really well...although the stain turned green on one of them....lol...but most came out or at least faded dramatically.

Oh great!! I will try this tomorrow! Cheers

That lemon juice idea sounds interesting - thanks! Did it affect the fabric at all (other than removing the stains)?

I would soak my Greens but as sop has advised a paste should work a treat !
It wouldnt harm it the once of but it will start to disintergrate the PUL over time & it affects the elastic so i would be wary !
I have done a wash with some napisan in it once due to some stains but i figured as i wasnt leaving it to soak it wouldnt be as bad iykwim.
The paste idea works much better though !
