Hi everyone, im new to this thread, ive been in most of the others but not this one. Well I have a 6 month old son and I live in the Blue Mountains. There's not much to do for mothers and their babies up here. The blue mountains is basically a retirement place it's not designed for families. Im currently doing family day care but I only look after 1 little girl. I spend my days doing housework, looking after the little girl and my son and being on this site! :D I love being home with my son, to me its a real priveilge. I love watching him develop day by day and playing games with him. I sometimes think its so sad that so many mums have to go back to work because of the costs of living. Im thinking about getting weekend work because of that reason. Well that's a little about me and my situation.
Im hoping to meet some lovely women on this thread who are going through the same situation as me. :)

Hi Naomi.....
Blue Mts are nice..lucky you.
Hope you enjoy chatting with us in cyberspace as for SAHM's it a bit of respite from baby enistein and vegemite soldiers......
Though I could certainly think of worse places on earth to be living. At least you have parrots in your garden...lizards, (snakes) and lots of trees......
Have you always been in the Mts or did you move there recently?
O's mom.

We moved here last October, so that's a year. I was born up here at Katoomba hospital and spent the first 2.5 years of my life in the mountains. Yes we are so lucky to live here. It took a while to adjust because we came from Sydney with high flying lifes! The only thing i dont like about being up here is there is not many people my age and most of them that are, dont have kids.

Hi Naomi,
I'm not too far from you! I'm down near Penrith. I have a friend who lives up near you in Lawson, and you're right, it's not designed very well for familys, except it is a lovely place to go and relax for the day.
My son's 10 months old. I went back to work when he was 4 months, but due to having Post Natal Depression, i couldn't cope very well so i quit after 4 months of being back there!
I'm getting better now and feel i could handle going back to work. Financial reasons we really need to, especially with our wedding coming up in 2 weeks, plus saving for a house deposit.
I'm looking for part time work at the moment, plus with me being a make up artist i can do this on weekends which always helps.
I also love being at home! It's great being with my little boy and like you said, watching them change everyday.
Have you planned your wedding yet??
Natalie :p

Hi Naomi!
Im a SAHM too.
I love the Blue Mountains - my grandparents live at Wentworth Falls. (so hence I understand the 'retirement area' situation!).
Im hoping to not have to go back to work - I just dont want to miss out on seeing all the little daily milestones that she does! But if it became a neccessity then I guess Id deal with it.
I consider motherhood my 'job'; and besides, how many people can do a job they absolutely love every day! Id choose this any day! :D

Thanks everyone who replyed to my thread. The Blue Mountains is a very pretty area but i just dont like the fact of hardly any families. I totally understand about the money situation. My DP and i are struggling at the moment and i have to face the fact that i might have to go back to work part time. I love being a SAHM and watching my son grow and develop. I dont want a family day carer seeing him grow up before i do. Even though im a family day carer myself, i just didnt plan on doing that for my children until they were a bit older. Unfortunately money rules this world and without it we dont survive. Ive been looking for jobs that i can do from home and havent had much luck. I want to keep going with family day care but unfortunately theres too much competition and no kids! :( Can anyone think of some ideas to keep me at home to be with my son but bringing in an income as well? I was thinking of running a small business from home but i dont know what to do. I was also thinking of what im good at that i could do from home, but theres nothing that comes to mind. Its going to be so hard to let my little boy go into someones arms when he is so small still. Im so hoping that one morning ill get this bright idea to keep me at home. If anyone can think of ideas can you let me know, please?
Thanks.

Hello all SAHM's

I am one myself and have been for the last 3 years since i found out i was pregnant with Isabella. My morning sickness was so bad i had to quit my job at the commonwealth bank....i didnt like it there anyway.

I love been at home with her as well! I take her shopping alot and i think she loves it now and ask to be taken to the plaza and now she chooses her clothes!

I live in Glenmore Park and have been living here since we built our house. Its a lovely suburb with lots of families and they are very friendly people!

Naomi, have you thought about selling kids clothes or anything u might not need in the house on ebay? I started selling kids second hand Brand clothes on Ebay and made quite alot in one week. It started to be an addiction! One time I bought a Fred Bare second hand skirt which was still in really good condition from trash/treasure market for 50c and sold it for $49 on Ebay! i was soooo excited abou that. So i did it for about 2 years and stopped when all the sales were getting slow because it was cheaper to buy at the shops.

But you should try it and you will definitely enjoy it, as well as been home to do it anytime.

Anyway gotta go now and fix breakky for Bella! :)
Bye
