Hey there everyone,
As a very soon mum to be I would love to hear some warm fuzzy stories bout how you were surprised by your partner when bub arrived.
I have a wonderful partner who is looking forward to being a dad- but obviously having not carried this little treasure for the last nine months is not quite as into the impending parenthood as I am- he is also a pretty macho guy who doesn't have a 'soft' bone in his body. I am putting my faith into the fact that when bub arrives he will be overwhelmed by a sense of love for this little wonder and bub will have him wrapped around his/her little finger before I know it!
How did your partner adapt to parenthood- have you got a beautiful story to share about how your partner surprised you with warm and fuzzies when bub was born? I would love to hear them!!!
:hugs: Thanks, Sal

when my 2nd bub was born my ex spent the whole day and held her never wanted to let her go he came up to the hospital just to kiss us night he'd ring at 12pm just to listen to us breathe on the phone but it didnt last long wen she was a wek old everything went wrong
My partner was SO excited about having a baby when I fell pregnant. I think I had more misgivings than him LOL
When bub was born, I needed surgery to be stitched up, so DP got to spend the first couple of hours with his new daughter. My mum was there too and she later complained (jokingly) that Daddy was hogging the baby! He just didn't want to let her go. He later told me he just couldn't take his eyes off her and it felt SO wrong to him to give her to someone else, even my mum!
As I was in a lot of pain and couldn't even sit down without a ring cushion for weeks after giving birth, DP had to do a lot of stuff for his new daughter, changing nappies, passing her to me for breastfeeds, HEAPS of Daddy-cuddles! LOL He was SO KEEN I was very impressed and a bit surprised. He was in love with her and in awe of her all at the same time.
Now they have a very special bond, "Dadda" was her first word, and they are best friends. Of course she loves me too and we have a great relationship, but there's is different, special, and I couldn't be happier, knowing there is someone else to whom Lily feels comfortable to turn when she needs comfort.
There is something so special about Daddies and their daughters - I feel all warm and happy inside just watching them together.

My DH was very excited about becoming a dad too...
One very cute thing: DS often sleeps in our bed (he's 6 months old) and will sleep in the middle... I'm sure one of his favourite things to do is wake up between us and grin at both of us!! DH gets big grins and Griff even hugs his face now (two hand grab) and gives dad kisses too (think biting, but more gum!)

Dh tells a great story about DS's birth..........
I had a rather traumatic birth with ds and when he arrived he wasnt breathing so was rushed into the special care nursery (had his stomach pumped, they gave him oxygen, needles drips the works)
Anyway DH went with him to the special care nursery(while i delievered the placenta and got stitched up.
As dh entered the nursery he could hear ds screaming in pain from being jabbed with needles (poor little mite) and dh called out to him "Daddy's here, hush now bubba daddy's here" and ds turned his little head towards dh's voice and stopped crying......:crying:
DH held his little hand and they looked at each other for a good 10mins before ds fell asleep....beautiful:)
DH didnt leave ds's side once that day....they are very very close even now.
Im sure your dh will just melt when he goes through the experince of becoming a dad!

My DP was happy - but like yours wasn't quite as into it as me. he is also a very macho bloke, but when DS was born that all changed.
Can't really explain what happened, but here's a pic to show you which describes it all.
This was taken the day Brions was born: Dad & His Boy (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g177/Brions_Mum/StuandBrion.jpg)
When it comes to his boy my DP is the biggest softie! And ever so protective of his little family.

Thanks for the responses ladies!!
Seems our big tough partners can't help but become big softies when hey become dads!! :hugs:
Nemosmum your post in particular brought a tear to my eye- that is a beautiful story!!
And Suze I think I am having a girl- so really hope that DF and our little girl have a bond like you describe- being the only daughter in my family I think there is nothing like the bond you have as a daughter with your dad!
Keep em coming!!!!
my df had never been around babies before so at first he was abit scared of holding jake but within the first week he had became an expert... i still find that the cute thime is wen i see them snuggled up together asleep, i can watch them for ages wen they are and i always have to take alto of pics

My DF has always been good with babies, they just seem to like him, he used to always be able to get my neice to sleep when no-one else could. When I had DD I lost a lot of blood and was bedridden for 2 days. He did everything for her and as soon as he spoke she would turn to watch him, if she was crying she would stop as soon as he came near her. They are still very close now. He baths her every night, gets down on the floor with her as soon as he gets home from work, gives her bottles and feed her meals. He would take her everywhere with him if he could. Last night was expecially sweet, he was giving her a bath and I could hear him reading to her so I went in to have a look. There they were sitting in the bath together (along with all her bath toys lol) reading her bath book and she was just watching him intently and grinning. It was so beautiful! I love that she's a daddy's girl:yelclap: :D

my df had to cope with becoming a step dad to three and new dad to one after a surprise pregnancy....well i couldn't have asked for anyone better  he makes sure he spends time with all the kids as much as he is over the moon about his own little bundled he never treats the others any different... his favourite thing is having a shower with his son...he has done this since Sean was about 5 days old and as i breastfeed it is special daddy/son time and he does it every night regardless of wether i have bathed him... he also puts him to sleep at night on his chest for about an hour before he puts him to bed and it is sooo cute to see them snuggled up on the couch together.
when DD was born the student middie accidentl;y dropped her (well kinda missed catching her all together) The other middies were ****ing them selves afterwards saying DF looked like he wanted to throw up and yell at her all at once.... his response a little sheepishly "but I didn't want her to be broken before I got to have a hold":D
My favorite thing ever that I never get sick of is when DD (now 1) hears her daddy's car pull up, I have never seen somone get so excited, she scampers over to the front door and waits for him to come in and I know that for at least the next few minutes I have no chance of getting between them!! It dosen't matter how bad a day she has had she always greets DF the same way! :D
DF gets ribbed at work all the time, he constantly gets asked to go out for drinks etc but he has never once gone claiming that if his family don't go he dosen't go...:o
I suppose it's all the little things to, like if DD gets hurt the way he will chher her up again, or the way he runs around the house with her like a lunitic while I try and save the furniture:rolleyes:
