Hi. There have been a few threads about this area but I didn't want to butt in on someone else's thread.
I returned to Aus. from 10 years overseas last August and we've been living at Labrador. My husband's job will move to Ormeau next month and our lease is up here so we will move. I work 2-3 days per week but it's at Bond Uni in varsity lakes. Since hubby will be driving every day we've decided on Pimpama/Ormeau. We have a 22 month old and another due next August. I will do the looong commute until then and after maternity leave look for work in either Southport or possibly Brisbane by train. I'm an academic in a specialized field so unless I decide to do a DipEd and become a teacher, my job prospects are limited to universities.
I'm a quiet person and grew up in the country but for the past ten years I've always had the convenience of the city. Hubby is a born and bred Tokyo-ite so it will be very different for him.
We will rent for the first year. We were thinking about buying but with the second bub coming and my job situation unstable, we'd better wait. Anyway, the Pimpama/Ormeau area LOOKS nice.....is it? Any advice? Thank you!

Pimpama is a newer developing suburb (from what I can tell)
We are in upper coomera/coomera and I like the convenience of my local shops with having young kids.
I think there are some great bargin buys out there if you decide to buy but you really need to come for a drive and get a feel for the areas.

Yes, it's a lovely area, very central location. We were at Jacobs Ridge today, and it was a really lovely suburb, It's a surrounding suburb od ormeau(but people still class it as Ormeau as it's a estate within Ormeau iykwim), and had alot of lovely parks and playgrounds, aswell as community tennis courts, football/cricket grounds.

We looked at a place in Jacob's Ridge today and will check inside on Tuesday.

I live in Ormeau and I am very happy here. My daughter goes to Ormeau State School and she loves it. There is an IGA and Coles and other speciality shops. I have met some great people in Ormeau. Good luck with it all :-)
