I have just started my first (and hopeully only) IUI. I thought it would be good to hear from ladies who have done it before and their results etc so we can compare!

Please leave your answers to the following:
1. Drugs used and dosage
2. Side affects felt from drugs
3. How many blood tests and ultrasounds
4. How many follicles matured
5. Day of ovulation and how many days earlier than normal (if applicable)
6. How many eggs did you drop
7. How many IUIs to get BFP
8. Twins or just one?

1. Puregon & Ovidrel trigger. My dosage of Puregon varied, each cycle. I started at 25iu, because I'm very petite (43kg) and have PCOS. I didn't produce a follicle until I was at 32IU. But my dosage was increased again to 42IU to try to grow more than one.
2. None really... The Ovidrel did seem to make me a little tired for a day or two.
3. US on day 3, then again on day 10, the every second day until I was ready to trigger. No bloods.
4. One, though we aimed for more.
5. Cycle 1, day 25. Cycle 2, day 14. Cycle 3, day 21.
6. One
7. 3
8. I'll let you know when I know! Though, presumably, it will be one :)

Good luck with your treatment. I found IUIs were pretty easy, and not too stressful. Even with the use of injectables. The needles are tiny, and almost painless if you concentrate on your technique.

Hi Ladies

I would like to share my story with you, I am 31 with no children my BF is 56 with 4 sons but is now sterile as a result of an illness that almost killed him. I have been with my current man for about 8 yrs & have been ttc for around 6 yrs, I know there is a big age difference but we get on great and are best mates, :hugs:even when we found out he is infertile i didn't want to have to leave him to have a family with someone else so D.I sounded like the only alternative since I am absolutely determined to be a mum. When I was 21 i went into early labour when i was 24wks pregnant & lost my son so the last 10yrs have been a huge journey for me sometimes extremely tortourous, :(seeing so many of my friends having children & my partner becoming a grandfather of 4 over these last 5 yrs. So after many years of tests & research finally started the ball really rolling in August 2010 1st natural DI, BFN. September 2011 FSH, BFN, November 2011 FSH, BFP!!!! :cheerleader2: also had a few missed appointments in between that was disappointing, I learnt on this journey the more cycles i did the better my FS got to know me, i felt with each cycle my odds improved. I'll post the details of my successful IUDI :celebrate: good luck everybody :fingerscrossed:

Taking conception & pregnancy multivitamin everyday for a couple of yrs

1. Self injected 50iu Puregon cd2 - cd14

2. Slight moodiness, slight blurred vision, headachy.

3. blood tests cd 10 to see if i'm starting to ovulate then again on cd 14 was def ovulating i could feel it this cycle not so other cycles.

4. two mature follies 22mm & 18mm, :) FS tells me chance i may concieve twins

5. My cycle is 28days i def ovulated on day 14, i was having puregon right up to & including this morning.

6. Not sure how many eggs i dropped but my 1st us the tech said looks like i could of ovulated from both ovaries, & she didn't know my story.

7. This was my 3rd actual IUDI, in between i also had 1 cancelled flight due to fog a cancelled cycle because i didn't have any follies big enough & a cancelled appointment.

8. There was a chance of twins but there is just 1 little bean :smiliedance: thank god bf & i travel with our business & live in a large mobile home, i think i would've pulled my hair out travelling with twins.

Good luck to everyone taking this journey i am currently 11 weeks pregnant and so excited & happy!:goodvibes:

I was starting to get impatient with iui & was seriously considering starting ivf i decided to stick it out with iui simply because its less invasive and alot more affordable but i was starting to feel pretty desperate.

Bump :fingerscrossed:

I thought I would share my story as I've just today received a positive pregnancy test after my first IUI. We went into it knowing the odds weren't great (there is lots to read on the net about how its not very successful at all and was quite scary!), but have been lucky enough for it to work first go and we are stoked!

To answer your questions, and hopefully bring some hope to others, here goes...

1. Drugs used and dosage
50mgs of Clomid on days 1 to 5 plus HCG trigger on day 14.
2. Side affects felt from drugs
Nothing to note really. Was a little tired after the trigger.
3. How many blood tests and ultrasounds
Blood test on day 2 of cycle, scan on day 7, 10 and 14 (had trigger on day 14).
4. How many follicles matured
1 and was 24mm
5. Day of ovulation and how many days earlier than normal (if applicable)
Day 15 (forced by trigger) and was 4 days earlier than it usually was
6. How many eggs did you drop
Just 1
7. How many IUIs to get BFP
First go.
8. Twins or just one?
Not sure as yet. Only just had test confirmed positive this morning.

I hope this information helps anyone out there considering IUI. Good luck!!

Hi All, thanks for this thread. It is giving me some hope. We had our first IUI insem Friday morning. I too keep reading about the slim-to-none chances we have, and have been getting discouraged. We have a 4.5 year old son who was conceived naturally - our miracle baby apparently. We have all our :fingerscrossed: that this will help complete our family and I love reading success stories!

Quick question - I was never scanned - no idea how many follicles, how many eggs, nothing. Does this ring alarm bells for anyone? Can't seem to get it out of my head. I was on gonal f 50iu from day 2-10, surged on day 11 with no trigger, insem day 12. :gl: to everyone else.

Mum2Nick I would def be asking why no scan. Did your clinic do lots of bloodtests to monitor Estradiol, LH, etc?

AFM....stats below

1. Drugs used and dosage: gonal f 37.5iu, no trigger

2. Side affects felt from drugs: nil

3. How many blood tests and ultrasounds: 1 BT & 2 U/S before IUI. Then further BT scheduled at 7, 11 and 13 dpiui.

4. How many follicles matured: 1

5. Day of ovulation and how many days earlier than normal (if applicable): CD14, same as usual

6. How many eggs did you drop: 1 not confirmed

7. How many IUIs to get BFP: Testing on Wednesday.

I was on clomid and my estradiol levels peaked at over 1000 which is why I had ultrasound but I think I wouldn't have had if it stayed below 1000 if that makes sense.

Twocam, they did 3 blood tests - day 8, 10 and 11. They were going to scan me day 11 but I was on my way to work and they said it could be done in the morning. Got a call that afternoon saying I'd surged and the procedure was scheduled for the next morning. To be honest, all the different levels go in one ear and out the other, and I don't know what measures what, but something had gone from a 4 to a 10? She also said I didn't need a trigger as I 'got there on my own'. I was pretty nervous/overwhelmed by the whole thing and didn't think to question it at the time, I could barely think. I'll be asking if we have to go another round, for sure! Good luck for Wednesday! :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

KLM76 I was on gonal-f 50iu injections from day 2-10. On day 11 they told me i was at a 10?

I thought maybe another reason they didn't scan was maybe they thought they missed it? But I'd hope if they thought that, instead of doing the procedure they'd scrap it til next month? I don't know enough about all this stuff yet, but clearly need to educate myself so as to know when to be asking these kinds of questions.
