View Full Version : Thailand next month - vaccinations and travel insurance
Hello,
My partner and I and our 3 & 4 year old daughters are going to Thailand for 2 weeks next month.
I forgot all about vaccinations. Does anyone know how much they cost, where I get them and what exactly do we need?
I also haven't got travel insurance... Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks :)
Google the travel doctor and do a search for Thailand. It will give you a list of things you may need to get vaccinations for (destination fact sheets) and you can book appointments online - I think clinics are Australia wide. I think its also a good idea to take a pack containing meds for tummy upsets etc, they sell those at the clinics.
Travel Insurance - we have bought it online. Again do a google search and compare prices.

Edit: Ok found the fact sheet - there is not much you need provided everyone has had their normal vaccinations (Diptheria/Tetanus, MMR, Chickenpox, etc - Flu and Hep A/B is also recommended). Best to make an appointment anyway to make sure everyone is covered. Appointments aren't cheap but worth it IMO. Travel med packs are approx $60-$70 from memory but may be more for a family, best to ring and check prices.

Um see a dr ASAP cause I'm sure some need to be given a period before travel . Check the smart traveller website and yeah they're expensive not covered by travel insurance but maybe by private health if you have extras

We didn't have any vaccinations before we went to Thailand a few years ago. If you're planning on going to very remote/ jungle areas you might need to.
I wouldnt go overseas without travel insurance. We went with Travel Insurance Direct, i think if you use coupon code TIDTHANKS by memory it gives you a discount.
Hope you have a great trip :)
I have used travel insurance direct on previous trips to Bali with our family. Not had to make a claim though.
We are also heading to Thailand in April no vaccinations were recommended for us or the kids. As I am pregnant I just had to have a tetnaus booster.
