hi all my son is 8 months 3 weeks old and weighs about 11.5 kilos and everyone tells me how BIG he is but to me he seems normal (he was born 9 pound 4) he fits in size 0 to size 1 and he's the biggest boy i've seen around so far for his age, just wondering if anyone has had a child simular.

Wow he is a gorgeous wopper! My son is 10 months and three weeks and weighs 11.3 kilos and everyone is always telling me how big he is! He was only 7 pound born though and was pretty scrawny till about five months. He is just plateuing (sp) now. He is the biggest baby in my mothers group now, and was the smallest at three months!
But he is thriving, healthy and wonderful as I am sure your little man is! Just say, yes he is thriving and very happy - that'll shut em up!
Well if you compare him to my daughter who will be 2 next month, then yes, he is big, he weighs the same as she does!
But my son was big and gorgeous like your boy as well, not fat, just big, he was and still is, always tall and stocky for his age, so I would not worry about it, judging by your avatar he looks absolutely perfect :)

My son was about the same, how long is he though as it makes a difference if he is really long... DS is huge for his age but above average in height so it all evens out!!
Your little man is just beautiful!
My DS is 10 mths and just over 11kg
He is very tall also
We have alot of comments made about his size but i also get lots of people saying how gorgeous he is (and he is  )
MY first DS was always a smaller baby (he has caught up now) i would much prefer a bigger bubba, i love those chunky thighs :D

Lukey's my little whopper (with cheese!) - he's now 2 and 3mths and weighs 21kg, size 4 clothes,size 9 feet & 102cm tall.
At 8 months he was 11.8kg and 75cm tall.
Believe me...after having a premmie (Jesse) and having people commenting on how tiny he was, it's soooooo much easier to handle the 'gosh he's so big' comments!

DS was 9lb 2oz born, and is now 8.5 months, somewhere between 10 and 11kg, and wearing the last of his size 0, and more size 1 clothes. He's pretty long.
He does seem big by comparison to average bubs his age, but then he didn't start out average, so why would be be average now?

Your son sounds adorable! At that age my DS was 12.2 kgs and 80 centimetres tall. He's now 16 months 14.6kgs and 89 cms tal. So they do slow down a teeny bit  Just think of it this way - the bigger they are the better they can look after their Mum's when they're older!

Hi, my first son was similar. 11lb when he was born, he has stayed big. At 9mths, he was 10.3kg and was 77cm tall. He is 9yrs old now and is 45kg and 146cm tall, so still growing like a weed.
My other son was 10lb 2oz at birth. At 9mths he was 11.1kg and 80cm tall, so big like his brother. I last had him weighed and measure at 2yrs 3mths and he was 15.5kg and 94cm tall.
It is hard dealing with the looks and comments like "What are you feeding him?" etc, but I just think there is more of them to love. And when they have tantrums and look like they are a few years older......I still haven't learnt to deal with that. It really makes my blood boil though when people stare.
I'm sure your son is just gorgeous!!!
my daughter is the opposite hehe. she's 11months, about 67cm and only 8.4kgs! the health nurse seemed worried when i rang(asking about milk NOT weight) so she wants me in.. thing is dd's daddy was exactly the same and he's only 170 now and im only 157. she is not going to be tall
i think your son is fine! and very cute :D

also i was just wondering when did your children start talking coz Dante still not sounding out words, except TA when he gets food lol.
DS1 was 22mths when he said his first word.
DD was 20mths for her first word.
DS2 was about 9-10mths I think.

Hi is compared to my DS who is 3 days older than your boy he is about 6.9kgs so that is a big difference but my DS is very small. :)
It's great to hear of other bubs in my sons age group who are whoppers. Garrett was born 10 Feb this year and is 8 months old. He weighs in at 12.1 KG. His birthweight was 8lb 8 0z but the doc reckons he would have been 9 lb something if he'd gone full term (he was an emergency c).
We don't call him Garrett. We all call him "Chunker".
Chezbear's mum,
Hi. Your boy is a great weight and sounds really healthy.
The midwife at the clinic I go to said NOT to limit their food intake - keep feeding them on demand - but just make sure their food is good stuff i.e no junk.
Chunker is demand breast fed and I feed him some cereal and veggies. He is thriving.
Last week the whole family was struck down with a cold. Who recovered quickest - my Chunker. And the doctor said "he's built like a sherman tank, so don't worry about him going off his food - just keep his water intake up".
:)
