Hi again.
I have a 9 month old male cat and he refuses to eat..
We also have a 5 mnth old female kitten we feed them both when we wake up in the morning, she eats all of her food no problems, but for the last couple of weeks he hasn't been eating that much he would have 1 or 2 mouth fulls and nothing else for the rest of the day.
What got me most concerned is that mid last week he has been throwing up almost every night.
We have taken him to the vet and they made sure all his needles were up to date which they are, she recommended trying differant foods and differant brands, we have tried that and still nothing from him.
But everytime that my dp or I go into the kitchon he meows at us, and sits right next to his bowl, we feed him and still nothing..
I m getting really concerned about him.

I suggest you take him to a different vet to get checked out, something doesnt sound right.
In the meantime, maybe try and tempt him with some cooked chicken to see if that will get him to eat a little.

Yeah, definitely get a second opinion!
My dog did the same....it ended up being a bowel obstruction, so anything he ate couldn't come out the right end, and was vomited back up....
Is he still drinking?? Make sure he doesn't become dehydrated, which is far more serious in the short-term than not eating.
It may also be stress related??? How long have you had the female kitten? Have you only got her recently?
My female cat and male cat have to be fed seperately as she just won't eat if he is around....maybe try this as well.

Yep i would suggest a second opinion also because when a cat goes off their food its not a good sign.
They should have done a better investigation than to just check his vax's were up to date !
Good luck hope he feels better soon.

What ended up happening with your dog??
He barely drink anything we have tried water and whiskers cat milk and nothing
we have had her for about 5 months now at first he was a little funny about her being here but now all they do is play play and play well 80% of the day the other 20% he is sleeping which is also unusual for him.
I will also try feeding them seperately, if that fails I will go and get a 2nd opinion
I will also give him some chicken tomorrow and he is already in bed

I agree to get a second opinion as it could be any of the ideas above!!
Animals are really hard to decipher, I had a cat with the same symptoms (add sleeping in shower - dry or not- to the list) and it was found she had kidney failure...
Another cat, similar symptons to my other cat... but she died of old age!!
if anyone recommends a vet, be a good idea to check em out too.

You really need a second opinion. This isn't normal behaviour for a kitten. Going off food is one thing, the cat might just be fussy but the sleeping and vomiting tends to point towards a more serious problem.

What ended up happening with your dog??
He ended up having to have an enema (sp?) :o
Luckytiger the suggestion of chicken is a great idea - and the best to get is Red Rooster if you have one near by - their chicken is really moist and has a strong smell - perfect for either cats with flu or those who are off their food.
And to check if your cat is dehydrated - grab a handfull of fur/skin, lift and turn it gently - if it springs back to original shape thats good - if it stays or moves really slow then your cat is dehydrated - go to a vet!
Have you got a bowl of dry food out too? See if any of that is going - some cats if they feel off will only graze throughout the day on dry food.
Hope he is ok!

Hi, I thought I would try & offer you some advice as I am A Reg. Vet Nurse.
Is the cat an inside cat or does he go outside? Has been going to the toilet? Could he be constipated? What was he vomiting up? Has he been given any bones lately?

Hi,
I am also a vet nurse and I would definately go see a vet, it could be a blockage, kidney failure is not likely in such a young cat but it can not be ruled out totally but if the cat is vomiting every night then there is definately something not right. Hope she is okay

Hello there,
ok both of my kittens are inside cats, the only times he has been outside was in the car on the way home from the pet store and once maybe twice about 5 months ago my dp took him outside just to show him around, but the whole time dp was holding him as he was too scared ( the cat ) hehe
Yes he is going to the toilet fine though his urine has been alot stronger in smell, the vet that we spoke to said that he was like some male cats were after a certain period of time if he has not been de-sexed that can happen
He is mainly throwing up the food that he is eating well the small amout of it.
And it's a no to the bones, we never give him bones
