I've used both the hot and cold Dylon dyes and they are good - the hot ones give far richer, deeper colours though.

If you want bright, vibrant colours without using heat, then maybe try procion dyes.
You would probably need to order them online though. There is a website www.kraftkolour.com.au (http://www.kraftkolour.com.au) that has all the colours and prices, and a phone number to call and order. (Last time I checked, you couldn't order directly through the site.)
There is lots of info on the net about dyeing and how to create cool patterns. It's too hard for me to try to explain in words!

thanks :)
when you die stuff do you have to always wash it seperately so the dye doesn't run into other clothes/nappies?
i realise there is some sort of setting that you have to do??? but i have bought tie dyed stuff from markets and had unfortunate wash episodes with it..makes me a bit wary as i generally chuck stuff in the wash a bit willy nilly...:o

it depends if you use a colorfast dye or not, best to check the label and possibly pay extra for colorfast products so you dont have to bother sorting the wash.
