View Full Version : How long did it take u to concieve baby#1?
Just wondering how long you TTC before falling pregnant with your first baby ??
And what do u think worked for u? (ie. charting temps, BDing every day etc.)
For me it was a month before we planned which was a huge suprise considering I have endometriosis.
I hadn't been on the pill for 3 years, we had been doing natural family planning methods and I had just quite a high stress job to start studying so the reduction in stress levels I think would have contributed greatly.
For #2 I knew the day I Oed and we BDed every 2nd day or so for a week or so before.

Both my pg was comming off the pill first month...maybe i was more fertile.... Prehaps it was ignorance, both times though i was hopefully but not expecting it to happen.
To be honest i had no idea about tempting, OPK, and little about ovulation.

We are into our 10th month now of TTC. Started January 1st basically.

It was the first month of coming off the pill for DD1, and second month with DD2. Had no idea about temping, OPK's, etc, and only went on the idea that i o'd around 2 weeks before my period :D .
I took it for granted and never thought about all the women who wait months/years before falling pregnant :(. I was lucky....
I hope you get your wish fulfilled soon princ3ssah :fingerscrossed: .
My first was what my DH and I like to call an "OOOPS".
Second time we tried for about 6 months before falling pg.
Third time we fell pg first time.
Fourth time we fell pg first time.
Fifth time..... well I will let you know in November!!!!!:D

We tried for dd for 8 months before actually concieving her we were in the process of going to a fertility specialist when i fell preggas.It was a bit of a shock even my doctor was shocked.To concieve ds it took us 2 months it was very easy.I Recently went for PCOS blood tests and my male hormone levels are raised so i may actually have it which would have prevented me from getting pregnant.After dd i lost weight so thats probably why i fell so quickly.

with aidan i was preg 1st month off the pill now i been ttc going on 3 months nothing happen yet!!!
Woh so many ppl fell within first month! I wish it was that easy for all!
Im in my 4th month now TTC #1! Still going but i think it will happen pretty soon! i have a feeling!

with my 1st it was the same night me and my partner at the time has sex and it was time only and we had alyvea.
with my 2nd i got told i couldnt have kids after alyvea but 2 months after me and my panter had been 2gether we were blessed with dianne

It took us 6 months of trying with DD. We were both fairly stressed as we couldn't work out why it didn't happen straight away because I was only 21!! I swear we concieved her on new years eve! We were both drunk so that probably helped us relax!!
With this baby it took 2 months. We used a maybe baby this time and I think that really helped. A friend of mine also used this after taking 9 months with number 1 then when she used maybe baby for number 2 it only took 2 months!!
With DS we fell pregnant first month of trying which was great but a huge shock coz my mum and dad tried 5 years for me.
This time around it isnt happening as uick. This is month 3 so :fingerscrossed: third time lucky although this is only the 2nd month of serious trying. I have got OPKs but to be honest DH and I are just enjoying BDing every night :D

after 3.5 years on the pill I stopped due to developing an allergy to it and having hives everyday.....we decided not to use other contraception and 'see what happens' - I didn't get another period, I got a baby!!!
DS2 I fell basically first month trying again..... DS1 was 9 mths......
Hey u know i read somewhere that for those who are TTC, 50% fall within 4 months, 75% fall within 8 months and 90% fall within one yr!
Thats pretty good odds i think!

For us we started trying at the begining of January and by January 21st a HPT confirmed I was pregnant...
No messing around here....:laughing:
Started trying Sep 2005 and still trying.....
Was on the pill for 10 years with out a break but doc saying that shouldn't make a difference. Doc also says there is no physical reason why it hasn't happend for us yet. Have just invested in Maybe Baby and :fingerscrossed: that helps as I have heard good reports about its success. Damn, I just have to keep BDing! :smiliedance:
First month I was obsessed with trying with temps, was anxious etc, then second month decided to just see what happens, and I really believe I got a BFP because I was more relaxed :yes:

2months first preg but M/C at 5wks gest. Then 6months after that to fall preg with Xav. Man I hope it doesn't take that long this time!!
mum2cooper - we were the same, all stressing out doing OPK's etc but no luck, then we decided to move to Australia and I fell preg that month. I reckon we may have BD'd twice in that month as we were so busy packing and stuff, funny how it works!!:laughing:
I agree with Mandy that you are more likely to get pregnant when you are relaxed about TTC. The longer it took TTC this time around the more obsessed I was getting with temping, OPK's etc. Then after 12 months of trying (post ectopic) I resigned myself to needing a HSG test to see if my one remaining tube was clear. Stopped temping and using OPK's and whammo got my BFP straight away. I was definitely more relaxed that month than any other. So it must have something to do with it! I recall reading that it is evolution that your body chooses not to maintain a pregnancy if you are anxious or stressed.
Try BD in the morning - at the appropriate time of month of course. I hear that helps. Good Luck getting your BFP!
Took us 1 year and six months...mainly because my cycle was out of wack. :fingerscrossed: it will be quicker next time around.

#1 was a big surprise, I was on the pill! :eek:
#2 we planned and did tempting etc etc, cause we were specifically trying for a girl, it took 2 months to fall, and we had our DD!
well our first was planned but not for as soon as he was! i was still on the pill and had to take antibiotics for a tooth thing i had. so anyway after feeling sick for a few weeks and still getting what i thought were my AF i found out i was 10 weeks pregnant! was such a shock but very exiting. we are going to start TTC#2 in the next 6 months so it will be interesting to see how we go this time :fingerscrossed:
DD was the first month of TTC i was really shocked as i didnt think it would happen that quick :thumbsup:
Currently TTC 2 this is the 7th cycle and hopefully :fingerscrossed: the one that ends in a BFP!!

We took 5yrs to fall with #1, mainly due to the fact that I had endometriosis.
The best method I found was charting temp's and monitoring CM along with following the vitamin and eating plan from a Naturopath.
Mind you, we went to the opposite end of the scale with #2, we weren't even trying and Bam - fell pg when DS1 was 6 months old !!
awww im sooo jealous of you that concieved #1 within a month!! it took us 2 years (ALMOST) to concieve our son.... 10months so far for #2

We got married and 2 months later I was pregnant. I was so upset the 2x I had my period. So impatient. Makes me feel for those who take so much longer and really want that baby.

Me and my DH have been trying 13 months and counting for #1, hoping this is my month too!! A friend of mine has endometriosis and fell in the first month of trying with both her boys. Yet me and another girlfriend have been trying ages with no luck. Have just started using OPK to see if that helps. Just gotta try and stay positive!:fingerscrossed:

3 months after coming off the pill.
We would not have become pregnant if we did not chart my temperature because it turns out we were BD'ing at the wrong time in the cycle. Charting my temps showed me I ovulated much later in my cycle and bingo, we conceived.
well pippi, i think it will happen for u very soon! As they say, just relax and enjoy BDing as much as u can throughout ur cycle!
and My Miracle Baby, me and my man r BDing daily this cycle so i dont have to chart. Im currently at CD10 and have just had clear CM over the past few days. so i think i will O very very soon!;)

It took us 6 months. I used an ovulation tester after 5 months and success!
