Or press-studs vs Aplix - same thing I think! :)
When any of you lovely cloth nuts (sorry, cloth connoisseurs) come across this thread, I'd love to know what your preference is between the two if possible. Particually when either is available for the same kind of nappy- like with Rumpsters AIO's, which is what I'm thinking of trying next. In your opinion, does either provide a better fit and reduce leaks? And what about just ease of use? Oh, and any difference in how they wash up and last over time?
Thanks guys! :D ;)

I have Rumpsters in my collection and I choose the snaps. DS just pulls off the valcro greens I have. Even when he has a pair of boardies or other shorts over them, he still managed to pull at the valcro. I would definately go for snaps.

Its personal choice of course.
Velcro just doesn't last long with Av as h just yanks it off.
I like the side snaps as Av is quite skinny and so gives a better fit.
They probably take a little longer to dry is all...
Velcro does tend to be easier to use - like a sposie.

Agreed, my 7 month old has started undoing his valcro nappies. I prefer the snaps at the moment.

I agree with the snaps, there harder to escape from:D and if your forgetful like me and forget to fold the velcro/applix back before you wash....:o it gets stuck on stuff and can snag on ur nappies:thumbsdown:

I'm happy with both,
but like Cel said I guess you can't forget to stick them down if you've snaps.
I don't notice any difference re leaking.

Like everyone else I prefer snaps to the velcro.... Was looking so forward to using my greens with DS1 but he now just rips them off  (can't do that yet with the snaps but he does try! )

I like the velcro better. I have found that if they are persistent enough they can get snaps undone too. Well my DS can undo both anyway. My preference for the velcro is mainly because I think that they are more adjustable and I think they are more comfortable for them. I've just found that sometimes the waist can look a bit uncomfortable for them when they've been in the for half an hour or so.

Thanks girls, I think that I'll get a couple of Rumpsters with snaps to start with- if I want more later I might get velcro.. I am sooo indecisive at times!

Yep im like tickle i actually prefer the velcro/aplix mainly because it is more comfy on Boof & easier for me & DP to be honest.
He can get out of both is persistant enough which is what can happen after his sleeps when we arent quick enough !
I keep my snaps for sleeps most of the time because yes thats when he is more likely to take them off & every other time he wears his Greens with pride !
I think the snaps look more impressive but the velcro fits better.

Changed my mind- Applix it is!! Ariene is the cloth-bummed-babe but I know with Ronan's habit of taking off his 'sposies in bed that I don't want to go through all that fuss with both kids!
Ariene is still fully breastfed and we get a lot of that kinda poo shooting up her back- if velcro is more adjustable for a better fit, like Tickle suggested, then maybe it will seal off the back of her nappy better...

I think it depends on the nappy also. Take my DH as an example he loves snap nappies but yet offer him a GK's and he would prefer that nappy over any other yet it is velcro, he likes how easy they are to use. But yet if you give him say another velcro nappy in similiar style he just won't use it - I think it is the quality of the velcro that makes him reach for the GK's over most other velcro nappies.

At the moment im not fussed over either.. Maybe ask me in 2 months time when she's just in a nappy during the summer and she's worked out how to rip the velcro off or figures out how to un-snap the snaps :p

DEFINITELY snaps!! I've found velcro tends to warp in a hot wash, whereas the snaps are more durable. Plus, with snaps, you don't have to spend time picking out bits of cotton that's wound it's way throughout all of the velcro!
I think velcro is fine for covers as they can just be chucked in a normal cool/warm wash.
