Ok its 8pm here and bubs is screaming and kicking on the boob, when I took him off to see what was the matter I could not express any milk! I squeezed and squeezed.

How long does it take for your milk to refresh? My MIL said that your supply is low during the witching hours, this is the first time I had noticed nothing coming out.

Please tell me its only temporary and some milk will come in later for his bedtime feed? :fingerscrossed: and that my milk isnt drying up? :crying:

Your supply is not drying up!:hugs:

This used to happen to me.....drink lots of water and look at getting some fenugreek.

I promise things will be okay:hugs:

The ABA's advice (http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/supply.html)

Also, oatmeal is apparently good for boosting supply, and it's something that women generally have in the pantry.

Supply is lower in the evening, and if you can't express any, that does not mean that you're drying up. I have great supply, my boy is chubby and contented - but today I could barely express any (I was trying to make a breastmilk slushie for him :D) Your baby is much more efficient than a pump.

Do you have DP or someone else there with you? Run a nice warm bath, jump in the bath and get DP to hand bubba to you in there. Have a lovely relaxing warm bath together. Skin to skin contact will encourage BFing, and the warmth will encourage let-down. Hopefully he will have a feed in the bath. Then when you're both out the bath (a baby massage after the bath would continue the relaxtion theme) jump into bed, have bubba there with you, and just have more skin to skin time. No need to stress about him feeding, just cuddling him to your bosom will eventually encourage him to feed.

maybe go have a hot shower...i always had let down when i had a hot shower. and when i had to express milk, i used to put a very hot flannel (as hot as i could bare it) on my boob and again, i'd get a let down.
maybe worth trying??

the witching hour is hideous, isn't it?!

ED :hugs: :hugs: I had this a few nights ago. I cried so badly because I just imagined my poor bubby starving.. but he wasn't, he was just being a fuss pot.. I do imagine my supply was low, I hadn't had much water for the last few days, I wasn't feeling too good and Aunty Flo decided to turn up AGAIN so I wasn't too pleased.
I had a great big bowl of oats before going to bed, then another bowl of oats for breakfast, took a water bottle to bed with me and sipped it whenever I woke up and I was as good as new!!

Make sure you tell DH that you may not be getting enough water. I told Chris this now at random times of the day he'll pop over to me with a glass of water in his hand just to make sure I'm drinking water.

(I was trying to make a breastmilk slushie for him)
Oh queenie... tell me how it's done :D

I used to express on some mornings when my supply was full, then put a bottle in the fridge and use it for times like this.

I didn't know about the oatmeal then though:D

Sorry ED, off topic here:

Oh queenie... tell me how it's done

A bit of breastmilk, in a sealed container (I have multitudes of these little plastic pots with lids) stick it in the freezer until frozen, then take it out and leave it on the sink for a little while, until it moves around when you shake the container. Then with a spoon, smush it up a bit, so it looks like, well, a slushie :D Feed it to him with a spoon. Curtis hated it though  Looked at me like I was feeding him dog vomit

ED how's things going now, has he had another feed?
