Contest number four is here. kriscee impressed everyone with her melting moments in the last contest - can she whip her competitors into shape for bakeoff #4 with a classic favourite? It's time to pop your dessert hats on chefs, and get mixing!

The basis of this contest is for everyone to bake a certain recipe and to see who can come up with the best looking and most creative interpretation of the recipe. Entrants will post a picture of their creation as a reply to this thread and then there will be a vote done to determine the winners.
The point of this is to have fun in the kitchen. Whether this is your first attempt at baking or you are a champion pastry chef, it doesn't matter. Just go with the flow and share your skills, and creativity, with the rest of the Bubhub.

The Rules

#1. The recipe is to be chosen by the previous winner.

#2. The closing date is to be next SUNDAY night - October 15, 12am AEST. A link to the picture must be submitted via a comment to this thread by this time.

#3. Voting will be done via poll to determine the winner from Monday 16th October and will close Thursday night - 19th October.

#4. Creativity is encouraged with the recipes, but try and keep it reasonable eg if a chocolate cake recipe is posted, people submitting pictures of their Friday night quiche won't be allowed to win :p

KRISCEE'S RECIPE
Classic Pavlova (http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/ARTICLE.aspx?id=42360)- AWW recipe

Serving size: Serves 8
Cooking time: More than 1 hour

INGREDIENTS

5 egg whites
1 ½ cups caster sugar, sieved
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla essence
1 ½ teaspoons white vinegar
1 ½ tablespoons cornflour

METHOD

Preheat oven to 110°C (fan forced). Grease a baking sheet and line with greaseproof paper. Lightly grease the paper.

Place egg whites in a large clean bowl. Add a pinch of salt. Using hand held beaters (or a mix master) whip until firm. Slowly add caster sugar, about 1 Tablespoon at a time. This process should take about 10 minutes.

Beat in vanilla essence and vinegar. Fold in the cornflour.

Working quickly, spoon the mix onto prepared tray. Shape into an approximately 20cm circle, making sure the mixture is piled high.

Bake for 1 ½ hours. When cooked, turn off the oven and leave meringue to cool, preferably overnight

Decorate with whipped cream and seasonal fruits.

Cook's Note:
Make sure the egg whites are quite stiff before incorporating the sugar
Don't open the oven door while cooking or cooling.
The Pavlova mixture should be piled high. A flat pav will spread whilst cooking.

I wont be sieving my sugar. And I won't be adding it 1 tablespoon at a time either. Maybe 2 or 3 at a time.:D

Its now half eaten in my fridge :)

BTW, I didn't fill mine in with all cream because I'm on a "diet". I used a packet of vanilla pudding for the main part and piped some cream on the edge.
